remove holding
it is probably not possible to remove a holding, or is it? the reason why i ask is because i recently accuired a new county but the ai already has filled it with temple holdings (and possibly another city but i'm not sure if that was built or if it was there from the beginning), which i would like to change to a more balanced number of castles, cities and temples.

in this one exclusion i wouldn't even mind using cheats that much, tbh, because it just really bothers me for some random reason lol

There are some mods in workshop that allow you to both "destroy" holdings clearing their slot and/or simply flip a holding to whatever you want it to actually be.
Looking on the WIKI there is also a console command destroy_settlement <settlement name> that should also allow you to clear a settlement if you prefer using console to installing a mod.

TEMPLES IN THE MIDDLE, CASTLES ON THE RIGHT AND CITIES ON THE LEFT!!

I think only excessive raiding (like having the same province sack-looted multiple times by Vikings), or pillaging by nomads can remove a holding. You definitely can't remove your holding.

nice, thanks. now i'll just have to figure out how to use console commands, lol. shouldn't be too hard though, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow.

i have thought about it a bit more and now i think maybe it would be good to include a new feature. something that allows you to "plan" holding types. so for example, a county has 5 holding slots and currently has 1 temple and 2 cities. then maybe you could say "ok, i want the last two holdings to be 1 castle and 1 temple" (right or left click on the empty spot and instead of building something, get an additional choice of planning something) and instead of just building something random (?) the ai would only build the specified holding types in the two remaining slots.

tribals and nomads can destroy non-tribe holdings they own personally.

But it gives you a massive amount of revolt risk and honestly isn't worth it most of the time sicne you'll get armies about 1.5 times your levy size every 3-5 months for about 10 years.

if you just want to re-order them, you can revoke everything and tweak the capital holding till everything is in the right spot.

yes, for re-ordering it is not neccessary to destroy anything. however, instead of reordering, i need to actually change the type of some holdings, which does not seem to be possible without cheating.
