I was trying to start a game with the Portuguese king, Afonso I, but he has the trait "Craven". What? The man who personally commanded the Portuguese to victory against is mother in S. Mamade battle and the moors in Ourique?

Look we had craven kings in Portugal but never Afonso. That is why I was so surprised. The man battle on the back of the horse is Mother, the galicians, the leonises and the moors. He was captured by the lionese because he was helping attacking a strongold of the moors and was attacked by the king of Leon (I think Afonso IV). 
Oh and not 500 years... more 900... We are one of the oldest countrys in the world.
I guess I have to buy the editor ...

Annoyed? Maybe, probably not if traits got randomly assigned, but i am not a member of any nation so i cant really tell, btw there are no "leaders of nations" in this game (unless you mean religious head?)

What... lmao... a king is a leader of a kingdom... portugal is a nation and OP is from portugal. Its just a part of his history. I dont give a ♥♥♥♥ about my culture either but i can understand why some people care and are passionate about it

I know i would care.
As it's random, anyone who wants to play him simply has to restart until the traits are fine or use console commands/cheats.
