any "must-have" mods?

I just bought this game and I am wondering if there are any mods that just objectivly improve the game, restore cut content, etc etc. Also, any tips for a beginner?

Yes, there's a "Community Update 6.2.4" mod that I think improves the game a fair amount. It's got some tricks to get it installed though:

There are other big mods but I've never tried them.

Okay, I don't know if this is still needed, but I first installed the beta version explained here:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/202200/discussions/0/485623406950877192/

Then I installed that mod. The instructions to install it are in a readme.txt file in the zip itself.

The mod made a bunch of improvements to the tech tree in my opinion, balanced things a little better.

alrighty. Apparently a "community update" took out a bunch of stuff? Is that true? does this mod restore it?

I downloaded a copy without problems just yesterday. It's working as now. Maybe give it another try.
