Dark and Darker

Best class for a solo?
I leveled a rogue as my first character but I feel like I lose almost every 1v1 against barbarians and fighters, even if I have the drop on them. Is there anything I could do better as a rogue or are there any other viable classes? Cheers

I've been having a reasonable time as Fighter solo, its Weapon Master perk gives me access to a bow so I can be a more durable discount Ranger.

I've heard good things about Warlock, though that has a bit of a learning curve supposedly.

Will give the fighter a try, thanks a bunch!

Just a small warning as a Fighter, there's a fair number of build options that you might want to look up, the Weapon Master+Bow thing I mentioned isn't anywhere near an optimal setup of perks.

If you liked the concept of dual wielding like on Rogue for example there's a set of perks that can help with that.

Thanks for the heads up, appreciate it. I normally only the pierce LMB attack on my rogue so I'm fine with one sword I think. Whats your opinion on the shield? Should I even bother learning how to use it?

For Firstimers : Warrior / Cleric / Ranger are your best bet to understand easily the game without dying in mere seconds.

That's a tough question, I find shields helpful against the more predictable mobs, but less so against players.

Some might suggest using a Hand Crossbow paired with a 1 handed weapon over a shield, I haven't tried that yet (really should honestly) and others might swear by the shield, personally I like having a shield but I can see value in either approach.

I've been eyeing the ranger class, is it better to kill enemies at range with that class than using a crossbow on my rogue? One enemy takes like 5-6 shots, which is crazy I feel like

Will give it a try with a shield for a couple of runs then, appreciate you

Generally Bows are faster than Crossbows due to not needing to reload between shots, as long as you aim for the head (or other appropriate weak spot depending on the enemy) they'll go down pretty quick.

Rangers also get a limited pool of melee options (Rapier and Arming Sword iirc with Short Swords being usable in the off hand) to conserve arrows, but they're heavily biased towards using Bows in most cases.

They do have a perk that lets them use Spears though.

Ranger with long bow and spear is great. You can even block.

Sounds like a nice class as well then. Will give Ranger and Fighter a try first, cheers!

Just remember to aim for the head, and recover your arrows from dead enemies.
