I agree. I find the layout of the Battleship fairly linear. While there are some side rooms, they are normally empty. Providing you clear each room as you move forward, there are few opportunities for the aliens to flank you - there also no "outside" to worry about either.
Supply barges have too many external door - far too easy for the aliens to sneak out and around behind you - or just play hide and seek. Failing that, as there is an "outside", they can always teleport behind you.
With 29 enemies in there, including way too many Muton Elites and Sectopods, I find Battleship raids the most difficult mission on Impossible, but it helps a lot that the ship layout never changes and the enemy spawn patterns don't differ much.
It also helps that each section of the battleship seems isolated from another (much like the alien base and temple ship). You never have to worry about encountering all the enemies at once, unlike some unlucky encounters I've had on supply barges. Additionally, the battleship is built like a sniper's wet-dream, unlike the supply barge with its four open cargo holds and no good vantage points (no real good cover either).
I'll upload the 2nd part of my Battleship video tomorrow. I think from memory I had 23 aliens in there.
