Reset Game Number
Any way to reset the number of games you've played?

Why would you want that?

Some games I've restarted quite early on and hate seeing the number continually rise with every new game I start.

I wanted to know about this also. I think the only way is to delete everything and re-install. Let me know if that has been tried, thanks.

Deleting your profile file from ~/My Documents/XCOM/Saved Games/ should do it - but you'd lose *everything* else the game tracks, to my understanding.

Alternately, completely uninstall the game, manually delete any left over files, and reinstall. The game does not save to the steam cloud.

I still don't understand why you'd want to reset it. It's not like that number does anything.
Or do you have some strange fear of numbers?

Alright then thanks man.

I found a way! You have to delete every game file for xcom in your documents folder. Then you just verify game cashe and viola!

When I re-did Enemy Unknown, I deleted the game (which really does not just takes it out of showing it on the drive, and deleted Steam Client and anything left over. Re-installed Steam Client and the game and the game started over on Game 1. I am now on Game 7 but since that time I added Enemy Within, so it probably would be a little longer to do since all the patches and everything, but it can be done if deleting all of Steam and whatever it leaves over on your computer. If you do not delete everything Steam then it continue where you left off, and for me that was Game 80.

But again Enemy Within was added with the 4Gb patch for Enemy Unknown first, so it be a longer download even if having the DVD's disk that I installed it with just before the 4Gb patch and Enemy Within came out. It is something with the Steam Client that prevents the game from starting over on Game 1 just re-installing the game, but what it is with the STeam Client and files there I am not sure. Just make sure to delete everything Steam even the files that are not deleted by un-installing the Client and the Game.

Late post I know, but for those that are interested, this is how you do this without uninstalling everything. First get yourself Cheat Engine, its a magical cheating tool free to use and download. Next open the game and then open Cheat Engine. Next attach Cheat Engine to Xcom by selecting the computer and magnifying glass icon on the upper left corner and selecting the game file. Note: This process is easier if you have the game running in windowed mode. Go to value type and select ALL. And then type in whatever number save you are on, this will take a while. Now once you have the results you need to keep starting a new game to increase the number save you are on. This will weed out improper addresses. I recommend you also save each time to make sure you stay on track which save you are on. Continue to do this until you reach about 14-16 addresses. They should range from 4 byte to 8 byte addresses. Select the addresses with the highest bytes that should give you about 5 addresses (one of which will actually be the save address and I recommend not touching that one) set all values to 0 and Voila! The next time you start a new game it should next save as game #1.

I hope this helps all you OCD people out there, this issue had been driving me nuts for a while. Have fun!

May have a little OCD, but that is just a part of who I am.

1. Goto Steam settings.
2. Disable Cloud. (You can always re-enable it afterwards)
3. Logoff Steam. (Just to be extra sure)
4. Goto ->My Games->XComGame->SaveData
5. Like most have already said. Delete the profile.bin file, and your save games, if you want.
6. Launch and check.

I'm running XCom Complete Pack and just did it this way after finding it on a forum, and it worked.

One question. Doing that won't reset all the second wave options?
