On a side note:
Never really understood why devs feel so compelled to put restrictions on camera movement? ...must be some sort of console issue in this case I'm guessing? ...and the 4 position fixed angles? (hate that) Is there a requirement in the Unreal engine that would dictate this?
I so much prefer being able to just freely move/rotate/elevate the camera and park it where I please. It would also vastly improve the battles in the interior locations. I know the devs are limited in the complexity of their interior designs (multi-story buildings/bases are a problem) because of that camera.
I'm not seeing a problem with how the have the camera in the game(except for free aim and the damn abductor ship) It lets me see the entire battlefield and give me a good quick look at the relation of my troops to everything else.
Yes, the problems with it become painfully clear when you play that abductor ship... Currently they've "managed" their camera issues with tactful level designs. I'm hoping that they would actually fix their camera in the future or at least give an option for a non-tethered POV so I don't have to fight the camera in some of these missions.
I've had the game completely lock-up on me going thru those big ships during the alien move phase... and I'm sure it's related to my reaction shots and that ######## camera!
That abductor ship is where dreams go to die, I pend about 50% of the mission fighting with the camera on it. But that is the only time I do, but damn if it's not the most infuriating thing when you have to do it.
...and if this game ever opens up to modding I fear to even try a community designed map for just this reason. The maps will have to be largely open spaces I guess... unless they fix the camera. ;-D
IDK, they don't have the same problem in any other enclosed space. I think it may have something to do with how that map is layered.
I just think with they way they did the base it wouldn't be any fun, turning the ant hill into a full 3D area and losing your scientist and engies would not be fun.
I love explosives too much to not use them. :x
Otherwise, it's a total cluster-goof...
