No sound at all, but all my other games and Spotify work fine.
Even though I feel for everyone with the same iss, I'm at the same time a bit glad that I'm not the only one. At least it is not my settings or somesuch, so I can stop troubleshooting.
Please post here if Steam support gets back to you.

You might want to look up the Skyrim boards, there was a problem similar to this.
You may be able to find a detailed guide there.
I have seen comments on the boards that this problem is realted to surround sound. Try turning that off if you are using it.
That is in Hungarian, but I already tried all those options in the drop down menu without success. Thanks for the suggestion though.
"
Browse to your XCOM Enemy Unknown installation folder (Usually C:\Program files\Steam\Steamapps\common\Xcom\)
Run the following installers:
...\Steamapps\Common\Xcom\redist\dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe
...\Steamapps\Common\Xcom\redist\vcredist_x86_vs2010sp1.exe
...\Steamapps\Common\Xcom\redist\DXRedistCutdown\DXSETUP.exe
...\Steamapps\Common\Xcom\redist\AMD\amdcpusetup.exe
Reboot your computer and test the issue again."
I did the above (even though the files were not in those folders and i couldnt find the dotNetFx40 file) and my problem was fixed :) hope this helps those of you that are still experiencing the same problem.
None of these files are on my machine. I have repeatedly written Steam about this and they are ignoring me, as is 2K, whom I also contacted. Still now sound. Thanks for your suggestions.
If that doesn't fix it then put its on 44hz or 48hz then make sure it's outputing the right amount of speakers.
I did the speaker thing and the Hz thing before setting to default not sure if it matters but it worked, for some reason it was on Digital output device as default.
Right click your speaker icon in notification area icons, go to "Playback Devices."
If you have your optical (SPDIF) output set as your default device, go ahead and change that to just your normal "Speakers" output. No, right click the "Speakers" output and go to properties. Select the "Advanced" tab, then in the dropdown menu, select 441000 hz @ 16 bit. This worked for me, so hopefully that will help you.
Anyway, once the launcher is started, you can check that by right-clicking sound icon -> "open volume mixer". Hope that helps!
