How do you abort a mission/where is the extraction point?

Lost half my squad to an ambush and I'm looking for the extraction point but I can't find it anywhere. It's a investigate ufo crash site mission if that helps.

there should be a lit up blue square area near your landing point

I noticed in a mission that I did later, but the mission where I really needed it there really was no extraction point. It was weird. Normally the blue square is near an outline of the skyranger but there wasn't anything. Maybe it's becausee I was in an outdoor area and not in a city?

I had the exact same situation happen. This is a game crasher in Ironman and now it will hang during the alien turn even as I scramble as a one-man army. Honestly, if you have Day 1 patches then at least make sure they actually cover game-killer bugs like this.

Certain missions are an all or nothing affair. You can't abort them even if something goes sideways.

I'm not talking about the Alien Base mission which tells you that it's all or nothing. It's like some alien invasion missions let you extract and others don't. They should warn you before sending missions on that either way.

Yeah I have this bug too really annoying I'm glad I'm not on ironman mode but I'm definitely going to go ironman mode after my 1st playtrough
