As for what to research first, it depends on your preferred strategy and what difficulty you are on. On Normal you can afford to slouch a little and research fairly impulsively but on Classic you`ll probably want Laser weapons and Carapace armour pretty soon or the aliens will simply be too powerful to be reasonably fought with minor or no casualties.
Never Dash! unless you are absolutely certain it is safe.
Always have at least two soldiers cover each other.( except for your sniper, who you can place at higher ground (in the back) with good oversight. After you give him/her squadsight , he/she will save you more times than anybody else).
If too many aliens are in sight, it is better to fall back and take them down - hopefully one or two at a time.
Always try to find the best available cover ( preferable higher ground - but this is often difficult to achive), and at the end of your turn - if no aliens are in sight - overwatch. Always.
If aliens are in sight at the end of your turn , and your aim has poor % , try to throw grenades or rockets . If they still are a threat - use hunker down and hope.
At terror missions they tell you saving civilians are your priority. True - But your Main priority is to keep your squadmembers alive and kill every alien - and save at least a couple of civilians.
As for my squad, I prefer two assaults, two supports, one sniper and one heavy.
Dealing with lots of aliens, I would not hunker down. I would seek cover behind concealment. The reason being that there is a high chance that when an alien fires it will destroy your cover, and then hunker down does nothing.
And when the thin men comes For the love of god be carefull or exstremely agressive depending on situation they are dangerus as hell they are you MAIN priorty target as they aim better than everything else and can jump over cars roofs and whatnot making them the best flankers and last but not least their poison spit not only ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up your aim but im my exsperince have a hight chance of making your soldier panic.
For country i choose north america for the money before but i found going asia is easier for me and getting a barrack as soon as possible and getting those 2 exstra squad members makes the start so much easier for me in the terms of winning battles ofc also making sure im getting those uplinks and satalites up it is doable but requires that you try as much as possible without risking your squads to kill them with your guns and not wep for more money to sell thier corpse.
Im gonna stop here and hear people's opinion of this also im sorry if my spelling seem's somwhat bad and a mess as im properly 1 of the worst typers in this world however poor i hope this helped in someway or gave birth to some new thougts
Not exactly. As it stands now you still retain the hunker down bonus when cover is removed. However, we all know that the bonus will not guarantee your safety (20-40%).
