21:9 monitor and mouse problems
Using a 21:9 monitor screws up the mouse control of the cursor. the cursor or selection box travels further than the mouse cursor itself. resolution 2560x1080 on a single monitor. Switching to 1920x1080 resolves it but the game looks horrible because everything gets a bigger width. Please help.

Same here. Map starts scrolling to the left when I enter the game. I can't seem to control the cursor either. Right now the game is pretty much unplayable. I've tried monkeying with the settings, but haven't found any solution as of yet. If anyone knows how to solve the problem, I'd like to hear from you. :)

I read back a ways in the forums and found out the map scrolling issue is because I have a flight stick also connected to my system. Disconnected the flight stick and all is well.

I am using a 21:9 monitor and run into the same mouse problems, don't have a fix atm. When going to 16:9 everything works. I will try disconnecting my 360 controller to see if the combination is causing this issue.

I have the same problem since installing and playing the DLC (though it never happened in my first playthrough with the original game), and I *don't* have anything but my mouse and keyboard on my PC. Furthermore, it's not a hardware issue since unplugging either one of them doesn't stop the scrolling.

So I don't think the issue is due entirely to any hardware like a joystick or flight controller.

I'm using eyefinity (5040x1050) and parts of the game actually render upsidedown for me.

Has anyone found a fix for this yet? I've tried the instructions on the Widescreen Gaming website, but it didn't work. Game is unplayable with the cursor the way it behaves :(

Uh... how many games, if any, are actually made with a 21:9 monitor in mind? I mean, it wasn't until a few years ago that widescreen monitors became more common and they had to start supplying 16:9 and 16:10 resolutions for games. I think the issue isn't with the game, it's with the monitor you're using. Try playing in windowed mode or something? Does the problem still persist?

I am using the xbox 360 controller with the 21:9 monitor now, everything is working well. It's too bad at 21:9 the mouse cursor is still messed up. Maybe Enemy within will have this problem fixed. Alot of new games support 21:9, and movies look great with 21:9. Running games at 1080p and not complaining is pointless, might as well just play on a console at 1080p.

the game looks fine in 21:9 so the problem is not really the display but the mouse boundery within the game is still 16:10 or something so it moves the cursorbox faster to the edge than the mouse cursor itself.

Hello everyone!

I have a sort of solution that will allow you play the game. I have the same problem, as I too own a 21:9 29" monitor.

Go into the options, where it says "Full Screen" and make the game "Windowed" (not borderless windowed) and then go into resolution and change it to 1920x1080.

This will allow you to play the game perfectly, with no strecthing or cropping of the image.
However! You will now be playing with an aspect ratio of 16:9, instead of the lovely 21:9.

I realise that it is annoying that you will be missing 3 or 4 inches off either side of your screen, making it more like a 19" 16:9 monitor. But atleast you will be able to play the game and not have wasted all of your money.

I hope this helps, and I will be sure to post an update here if I find out how to sort it for good.

Thank you

Just a quick add on to my last post. I only JUST realised, that if you use and Xbox 360 controller it is fine in the full 2560x1080 because it doesn't use the mouse cursor and the highlight box - both are done at the same time, eliminating the issue.

So now I give you two options:

A. Mouse and keyboard use, but on a almost half the screen.
or
B. Full screen, but on Xbox 360 Controller.

Choose the lesser of two evils.

Thank you

Um, I like the xbox controller in Xcom better than using the mouse and keyboard. I guess it's just a prefrence.

Still not fixed.

Game is borderline unplayayble in 21:9.

Firaxis gives no damns either; not like they even bother to fix game breaking bugs with the game in the first place.
