I am amazed just how bad XCOM actually is, compared to an old DOS-game. Even the 3D graphics (software rendered) of that time were more spectacular.

Can i suggest a movie to you ? "Midnight in Paris" , it talks about hte "Golden Age Syndrome", it's your case.

I mean, you can say that at the time was the best graphic avaible ( lie ), you can say that some things were a bit more awesome visually ( maybe) , or other things, but it's still the thruth : this is the new line, and bless God that they didn't destroyed your precious timeline ( Command & Conquer 4 docet)

C&C 4 was an aberration, everything worse than C&C 3.
Worse graphic, worse videos, worse balancing ... now THAT put a GREAT series to shame.

Do urself a favor, go find a copy of incubation, load it up, and see if u still think the graphics are better.... Because, IMHO, u are dreaming mate, incubation wasnt even that great for its time, let alone compared to this....

I played incubation, because it was blue-byte and they made that awesome game "history line 14-18"... . It was fun, but short and a bit too easy. Comparing this with x-com is a bit of a stretch though.
