No, I did not change the language, the game crashed and after that it started complaining about one or more saves being a different language. It simply corrupted one of the save files. The save file was an autosave and that turned off the autosave for the game. After finding the could storage setting I loaded a game, did not get the message, but autosave was still not working. Turns out the autosave is a setting in the game itself and it had been turned off. I turned it back on and now things are working correctly again.
Thanks for the advice. I was starting to get really annoyed at this.

that link may be old.
Bookmark for future reference if it still works that way. Or it should not be too much difference I suppose. I turn Steam Cloud off, the game saves on my computer and I have never had a corrupted saved game. Might want to check out your harddisk.
Might want to copy your Saved Games over to another folder first to have a backup copy of them.
Stream, fix this ASAP please. Internationalisation is common good. Cloud saves are there to last, not to be broken once your running on a system using another locale.

but it didn't work. :(
honestly, I don't care about my games, I just want to get rid of that annoying message. Any fixes?
I had the same issue, first started the game in Polish, played some, but I found the translation silly, so I switched to English. And the annoying message started to crawl up... XCom stores cloud saves a bit differently it seems, so the instructions from the forum post on deleting saves don't work right off the bat (strange...).
TL; DR: corrupt the files, start game, delete files in game (they will appear as corrupted saves), exit game, cloud sync should pick up that you deleted the files.
More detailed steps:
PS: if you are non comfortable with the console, you can go to that save folder using windows explorer and:
- open each unwanted save file in notepad,
- delete the contents,
- save it back
. Using console is much easier though as you just enter it once and then press arrow up to edit previously used command and change only the number in the save's filename.PS2: Steam... still no clear cloud save option... shame on you...
This tip just deleted my file without syncing and now my savegame is gone forever. Shouldn´t try solutions with deleting files before backing up. Learned it the hard way on my promising classic ironman run.
