fighter deployment info
Do you have to have a satellite over acountry to launch a fighter there? Let me put it another way: if I don't have a satellite over, let's say, China, then does it do me any good to station a fighter there? Hopefully I made that clear. The hangar menu is sure willing to let me do it but there's a ton of information this game doesn't explain very well or at all.

PS: STAY ON TOPIC. I had to trudge through 37 pages of threads and found way too many legitimate topics overtaken by whiners, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and trolls, oh my! Don't be that guy.

I don't think you get any benefit from stationing interceptors in a continent without a satellite. The satellite gives you a chance of seeing a UFO to intercept.

You CAN station fighters, however without sattelites there to help detect UFOs, they'll just be sat there gathering dust.

I think you will not detect any UFO from China if there is no sat, but to be confirmed. Therefore, the fighter will be useless there.

You station your fighters on continents, not countries... So stationing ur fighters in Asia will be partly helpful if you have at least sats over the other asian countries and not helpful at all if you have no sat over any asian country... Long story short - you have detect the UFO first to go and shoot it down which is the thing you can't do without satellites...

Which reminds me of another stupid point of this game compared to the old XCOM...Let's say you detect a UFO somewhere between Europe and Asia... Say you have the Firestorms loaded with plasma cannons in Europe and interceptor with Avalanches in Asia... In the old XCOM say Avenger in Europe, Interceptor in Asia... In the good old XCOM, you could of course launch your europe-based Avenger to shoot the bastard down... In the new exciting remake, this would probably be more than just 3 clicks and too difficult to do on console gamepad, so here, you simply HAVE TO send your interceptors to certain death.... This is really silly :-))

Your fighters icon "shows" in China, but in fact their range of operation are all asian countries covered with satellites. No asian sat (ANYWHERRE in Asia) = no detection = useless "chinese" fighter deployment.

You can have china not covered, but other asian countries protected by sats, your "chinese" fighters are still useful since they'll be available to attack any target flying over sat covered asian countries.

You can also lose China from panic, your fighters will still show there (same for USA, Germany, etc...)

The interceptors cover regions, not specific countries. If posted in China you'll also be covering Japan, Australia, and India... I believe it was.
