Mind Merge double kill glitch... Triple kill!
I've got two sectoids in LOS, one of which is controlling a mind merge with a third which is out of sight.

I land a shot, killing the controller, the merge trail goes yellow and I get the electrical zap + scream double kill confirmation sound. This ends my turn.

I think, "Coolcoolcool, just one more to deal with."

Then on the aliens' turn, out of the fog of war comes a fresh mind merge trail from the exact location the death scream came from. However, it immediately turns from purple to yellow the moment it connects and zaps him. I get the mind merge double kill zap+scream sound.

It seems as though the out of sight one who I already got death audio for didn't actually die until after it attempted that merge.

A glitch that worked in my favor for once! :)

Too bad sectoids are harmless unless you're playing on Impossible.
That's not always the case, himmatsj - the bonus kill I magically got let my wounded rookie earn a promotion instead of a near-guaranteed flank shot to the back.
in classic and impossible it happesn sometimes to me that a already sen secto merges with one of a group i dont discovered till that. and when i kill the mergers i kill the unsen too, but without trigger his group.
I understand that. It's just that in this case, the kill came from absolutely nowhere.
Did you use a grenade? Offscreen explosion of a car perhaps?
No, it was on a subway map with nothing but planters and vending machines for cover. I was across the tracks from the train itself, and nobody used anything but basic assault rifles. It was really unexpected. ;)
