Multi Monitor Setup, not for game but for browsing
Anyone tried to have a second monitor running while playing XCom?
I am getting some strange behavior here.

Usually have my game running on main Monitor and a webbrowser on my second monitor. Or Skype or whatever.
Now i found an option to unlock the mouse from the game, so i can mouse over to the second monitor, BUT: as soon as i click anything there the game drops to the taskbar.

Any way to prevent that? I have never had this issue with any other games or programms before. Kind of annoying because it renders my second monitor useless. If i wanted to minimize XCom to check the web, id could do that with just one monitor after all.

Did it myself last night. Here are the steps.

Find the baseengine.ini file.
Local Disk - Program files - Steam - Steamapps - common - Xcom - Engine - Config

Ctrl+F for bPauseOnLossOfFocus=TRUE
Change TRUE to FALSE.

That should do it.

Hmm, changed the value to FALSE, but i am still getting the same behavior.
Game minimizing once i click on a window on second monitor :-(

Let me double check my other settings, see if i can find a fix for you.

ill browse trough that ini files as well meanwhile. a "pause" setting sounded strange anyways, but if you got it to work there has to be a value that helps me. Thanks!

This might help, in the ingame settings, is Lock Mouse to Window unchecked? That caused interference when I tried it just now.

Still looking around just in case it didn't.

I had to uncheck the Mouse Lock to be able to actually leave my first monitor with the mouse. If left checked there is no way to switch the screen on the fly.

To clarify:
I want to play the game on screen 1 and browse the Web / use skype on screen 2 at the same time. So i can look up some items stats, or tactics or whatever without leaving the game. For this to work the mouse has to be able to leave the game, at least i belive it has... any other way to get my mouse to screen 2, without this option?

Edit: Found a semi working solution... playing windowed mode. But if i wanted to play windowed, i could just as well use the browser on my first screen as well. Really odd. Never had this kind of "bug?" happening to me in any other game yet.

I do the same on X3, it doesn't have a lock to screen option, it's always on, I had to ALT+TAB it.

More potentials, there are a pair of lines of code in there
BorderlessWindow=FALSE
While mine are still set to false, maybe changing them to TRUE may help?

EDIT: Oh, sorry, my bad, I should have said I was on Windowed mode, should have said that to start with. Some programs don't let you move to other screens on fullscreen.

hmm, looks like i wont be able to use my second monitor then. I dislike windowed gaming.
Actually that was the reason to buy a second monitor in the first place lol.

Back to oldschool Alt+Tab for checking the web and time to tell my GF that skypeing while XCOm is one will not work.

Thanks for checking this out for me tho!

Uhm, i just now found a semi working solution actually.... setting the game to borderless window INGAME. But keep the maxed resolution.

It now looks like full screen, but i can click on my second monitor without it minimizing. The Taskbar is showing up tho and the game is in pause mode.

Should'nt bPauseOnLossOfFocus=FALSE prevent exactly this pause from happening?

That's strange, I don't have to use the Borderless Window mode. I personally don't mind the windows because I just change it so that my second monitor is my larger desktop monitor (my most powerful PC is my laptop).

It should be preventing that from happening. I don't have any other ideas for you, sorry.
