thinman snipers
I'm playing on classic iron-man... and yeah, I know. I picked this difficulty to have some nice challenge -I have alredy beat the game on this previously-, but those damn thin-man with their plasma guns... they are the best marksman in game, and most of the time they just pick my crew behind from full cover pretty easy... basically from the other side of the map. I really don't know why the game is like that.
I love all the other challenges ingame but this is just simply ridiculous...

Sorry, just wanted to share my frustration with you guys to ease my pain here... :)

Why don't you just blow them up?

The enemy sight is far beyond yours.
They can basically snipe you in full cover.

Of course, that is the way to do it, but it is not always possible. Most of the time, especially early game, the key is to have more than one -perhaps two- heavy. But to have like two rockets can help in most of the cases...:)

Capture them with a arch thrower = you get a light plasma rifle with +10 aim (still need to research it however). Time for revenge!
You have to kill the thin men before they dig in and cover up. Pulling them with 1 or 2 units then falling back behind your other 2 - 4 units on Overwatch works great... if you have the time (ie not a bomb mission)

Yeah just had to restart my game, because deep into the second month all I had left was 5 rookies, countries were starting to panic and I did not have enough engineers to build a satalite uplink, I knew that I wasn't going to last. I am playing EW on classic ironman w/ aiming angles and a gang of thinmen / outsiders wipe out my squad every couple of missions. Even if you are in full cover if they get a crit they can take down 7 health or more. My memorial was getting stacked.

Now I know that classic ironman really is no joke, the only way to save your soldiers is to hunker down. I might also try turning off aiming angles, it seems to benefit the enemy more than me to be honest.

I know your pain, all the soldiers I´ve lost to ThinMen even though they were in high cover......

But yeah, if I know ThinMen will be dropping from the sky as reinforcements I´ll put in overwatch rounds, that usually kills them or lets me finish them off after.
If I run into ThinMen packs I either pull back completely to LoS em, if possible, or start throwing every explosive I have at em. Screw bodies and weapon fragments in that case!

doing a normal run now and sure i get hit allot but not had any deaths so fare
do save but normaly i just keap on going just save incase some major stuff happen
also try to get hold of all them meld canesters so fare i got 120 but since i am trying to focus on getting up my satelites i not had money to build much else still use basic wepons

not realy good at this but had one play true on the furst one on easy but fealt was not enuf monsters in it so i started now on normal guess i shot for classic after that

dont think i am gona try iron man as some times you have the all out miss on all soildiers and then stuff just tend to happen

I really don't think the thinmen are any more uber now than they were before. They've always been master snipers and NEED to die the turn they're activated or you're asking for a KIA.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were given a slight aim buff of another +10 considering all the additional buffs we get now, but it still doesn't change they're the most dangerous enemy you'll face until you have carapace armor since they routinely one shot your squad.

That is pretty much how I feel now, yes. I have even tried out the demage roulette second wave option with the classic iron man... that is just stupid... :)

Most of my thin man kills are from overwatch, if they miss I'm pretty much f*kd. And altough the high ground adds bonuses, thin man usually don't really care. They one shot soldiers early game from almost any angle while ofc I miss even from perfect positions.

Since I'm playing with the expansion on classic, I have never seen them miss. They forced me to restart my game two times already on iron man. :)

I'm so scared of thin men now that I use the equipement that adds +2amors. At least, they can't one shot me on a crit 6damage now :goblin:. That saved me from a lot of those damn crit.
