Gathering of bugs/fixes post here.
Okay so since it seems the community have to help ourselfs here which a lot of people are dedicating time to I thought I would make a post where we gather all bugs and all fixes we find.

Known Bugs

Game is stuttering even on lowest details - No known fix yet
Random Crashes - No known fix yet.
Vsync not working as intended - No known fix yet
Cover and hunk down dosnt work fully can someone confirm this ? - not confirmed yet.
Second Wave options not working with enable/disable - Confirmed and worked on by 2K stated on thier forums aswell as the unlocks for second wave PC bug.
Game freezes upon first startup works fine on second - No fix yet
Game freezes after first few missions and stops responding - No fix yet.
Seekers seems bugged in multiple cases - No Fix Yet.
Overwatch bug, glitches the game anyone able to give more info on this bug ? - More info would be lovely.
Interface bug, after movement interface greys out and cant be used - no fix yet
Gene mods tends to disapear and the option disapears - No full fix yet however some did report that removing the building and rebuild helped a bit can anyone confirm this ?
Esc button seems to disapear randomly every menu - No Fix yet.
LOS is still bugged if not worse now than in EU - No Fix yet
Bleeding out soldiers seems untargable for medics - No Fix yet

Known Fixes

EW wont install after activating my CD key/buying off steam - Verify your files, right click options and then local content and verify local files

Fix for stuttering on nVidia cards by Dark Sider
1. open the NVIDIA control panel.
2. Under 3d Settings, go to "Manage 3d Settings"
3. Select the "Program Settings" tab. (Can do it under global settings if you want, might fix other games, but for this purpose we will fix just enemy within)
4. It should have a drop down menu under "select a program to customize" Find Enemy within (for me it was a different program then xcom main) and select it
5. Find Maximum Pre-rendered frames and set it to 1.
6. Find Vertical Sync and set it to "Adaptive"
7. Click "Apply"

Anyone able to write same guide for ATI ?

Other questions

Will my mods from Enemy Unknown work in Enemy Within ? - So far I havnt seen any mods working with EW yet, I´m however sure that the modders will work on it when game is stable.

Will Slingshot DLC work with Enemy Within ? - Yea it works, don´t worry it will come as you progress in the game.

How does it work with second wave options ? - Second wave options atm is bugged and therefor NOT transfered from your orginal game to the new one, however 2K is aware of this and hopefully included in the fix for all the other major issues.


Please report this post as stick and post any major bugs/problems/questions you have so I can add them to the text.

Quick update for everyone seems that 2k is aware of quite some of the issues about the framerate and shutting and working on it at least a start - 2k offical forums[forums.2kgames.com]

Also thanks to the entire community from well another community member to come together and try and fix this.

Sorry folks but this the bottom line. I would rather play EW in the most cavalier way known to man than try and play EU DLC. IT IS BROKEN AND NEEDS PATCHED NOW. So. All of us trying to work out how a few maps, couple of new skins/items (aka EXALT and Meld) and a few new cut scenes manage to corrupt a game - THAT PLAYED IN A NORMAL FASHION BEFORE - are wasting our time. You are no more than B testers and for that reason - you can all get on with it in my humble opinion until I see otheriwse. £15 for this cr*p. Stuff it. Second rant over.
Mission to extract 'Anna Sing', Ive located and I approached her yet the event doesnt trigger to allow her to move. Basically i had to abort the mission. Sort it out!
I've got a problem where in the Temple ship mission, I've cleared up past the sectopods and into the final (hopefully) room with several elite mutons and several others. When I try to move up with an Assault soldier (with Lightning Reflexes), one of the muton elites takes a reaction shot and the game freezes. I have to ctrl-alt-del and end the game.

This locked game only happens in the temple mission -- I've had all sorts of aliens (including Muton Elites) take reaction shots at the same character in other missions without issue.

I think I'm pretty much stuck at this point. This is the third game where this particular problem has stopped me. I gave up on the earlier two, but still have the current game available.

You should had saved and reloaded. Even if your soldier is within the activation area, the activation will trigger. This happens to many missions that require activation in EW. The workarount is simple enough.
"Some saves cannot be displayed because they were created in another language"
that's what I got trying to load my Iron Man run. The only save, in the very middle of the game. Is there any way I can recover it? I tried Shadow Explorer, i tried upoloading from the Steam Cloud, but it was turned off at the start of the game, and thus empty. Commuters of Steam, HELP!!! Don't let cpt. Jennsen and all the guys wanish into blisby.

GAME BREAKING BUG! (can be reproduced everytime)
When a Sectiod commander tries to mind control a assault soldier with neural damping and the soldier becomes stunned. Then when a enemy in that same turn triggers the 'Close combat specialist' on that soldier the game will be stuck in that action!

Then you will need to exit the game (as you cannot enter the menu) to reload a earlier save game..
30 plus pages, yeeesh. These two are probably mentioned elsewhere so, anyhoo...

The game locks up after a certain number of reloads. I notice it frequently with Council missions where there's a soldier reward. Typically I'll reload until I see a class I prefer. After around 7 or 8 reloads, the game crashes and I get the Steam thing telling me the game can't run. It can be gotten around by just restarting the game, but this procedure always results in a ctrl+alt+delete in task manager at some stage. This never occured once that I can recall with Enemy Unkonwn.

The other is that the teleportation bug is still present. Granted, its much more minimal than it used to be. The best way to test for it incidentally is to equip an entire squad with ghost armor or memtic skin, scout out enemies and wait to see what happens. It doesn't happen all the time, however, I have run across a few instances where it can be reproduced

Battleship Map : Squad ghost armored up, last room, by the bridge door prior to assaulting the main room. I open the main door, and move my squad a few paces behind that big hunk of cover just inside. Next turn I ghost up, and sprint everyone into the main room. Now, sometimes they'll be mutons or something on the cenral upper deck, or a pair of units elsewhere in the room. On their turn, occasionally these enemies, with the exception of Outsiders, Sectoid Commanders or Ethereals, will teleport a few rooms back to the one with the two long hallways. Again, doesn't always happen.

The other two involve Exalt missions I've seen. I wish I knew the proper names for these maps, but again, same situation, racing one soldier ghosted or memetic skinned scouting ahead revealing a pod of enemies on their first turn. On the enemy turn, they teleport.

Gangplank - Im having an issue where a Thin Man hops up to the two parallel bridges in the middle of the stage. It shows ( somewhat ) as walkable terrain but is not passable, a mech cannot jump up to them with mech boots, and I know he is still alive because he occassionally took potshots at me but hasnt in 10 turns.

Have to reload and lost two hours of carefully not dying.
Time to assault the underground base with my new modified troopers. Got the key, and set off. Opening fmv runs and then a big empty black box appears accross the screen, with a continue button in the bottom left. Button make noise but doeas not shut box, and with box open I cannot do anything....HELP!
Reporting once again, cause no responce, or changes where spotted. In mission, that happens on the dam, first time when ground shackes and camera centers on the flood gate controlling wheel, camera freezes and game hangs. No further progress possible.... Is it only mine problem, or someone else meet this stuff else?
There's a Kinetic Strike bug for the mechsuit that makes ragdolls freeze pre-maturely, sometimes in mid-air. It's not a priority, but it takes a lot of the satisfaction out of punching someone through a wall.
Often it will prevent any of my troops from passing through a passageway, thus blocking my progress through a level, and requiring an abort. sometimes saving and loading fixing this, usually it does not.
I tossed a standard grenade at a thin man on top of a train car... the roof of the traincar was destroyed and removed... yet the thin man survived with 1 health left and continued to stand on thin air... not game breaking, but simply bad development, ignoring how it should have fallen to ground below.
Operation Slingshot, mission 2: Flying Jester
Encountered bug where Mec-Trooper or Gene-Modded soldier cannot activate the train to leave the station after all 4 beacons are activated.

On an ironman save, that hurt.
