Can't revive an unconscious soldier!!?
Twice now, I've had a situation where I can revive an unconcious solder. Both times it has been with a solder who has a secondary heart installed. But my medic does not see the solder when standing right next to the downed victim. So I spend the next few turns with my medic trying to stand elsewhere to see if I can revive the solder. In the last incident the solder rolled down a slope. Is it a bug or am I missing something here? Any thoughts folks. It's just so frustrating when I bring two medics on a mission, one gets injured, but the other can't help!!

I've seen in Let's Play videos where downed soldiers have clipped through the floor or wall and have become impossible to reach. It does indeed seem to be a 'thing.' To a lesser extent, I've dealt with some clipping issues myself, or teleporting inside walls, and so on.

happens, got one soldier on top of a vehicle and got critically wounded (in the initial progeny mission), can't reach him because he went under the vehicle...

"Firaxis, it is not the game, its the bottomline..."

So a stupid bug then. I could actually stand next to or over the fallen comrade, but just do nothing to save the soldier. A masterpiece of a game, but not perfect..........................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Firaxis please fix it!

One common solution for bugs like this is to move your medic over the soldier, save the game, exit, and reload.

Sometimes reloading will make the game re-evaluate if the wounded soldier is within range of the medic.

This is something I've now adopted in my current playthrough. Reloading helps sometimes. Its why I make sure I have a geoscape save prior to the mission, as well as a save during the mission.

Yes that's a pity, since I always play in Ironman mode, but perhaps next time it happens, I will exit the game, restart/reload and see if that cures it. Thanks for the tip.

thanks for the post, almost lost a col but saw your save/load fix, did the thing. bugs are game killers in ironman.

its the same like with some Council goals in EW that dont react when u move beneth/in them, save and load fixes it mosttimes (but sometimes u must reload more than one time till the trigger gets it)

Thanks - this worked wonders for me =) had a dead soldier on a roof which could not get revived until I saved, quit and loaded =)

As I now understand, the process of loaded, refreshes all data valutes within the game and so theoretically fix most problems; in the same way that restarting your PC will fix most problems. Just like the PC helpdesk always suggests first.

i have similair bug and this is very strange.

i stabilized the person that needs to be revived. this worked. now i want to heal the person, but it doesnt work. it says i should stabilize

the funny part about it is; when i want to try to stabilize it again it just says "already stabilized" and when i want to heal it, it says "needs to be stabilized before healing"

like wtf?

also the person has "can be revived" hovering over it

saving and loading the game did not fix it ...

any solution for this?

hirnmixer, i believe unless you have the skill (revive i think) which not only stabilizes but brings downed soldiers back with some health you can't do more than just stabilize. it is kind of a either heal them before they go down, or just stop them from dieing type thing.

ah ok thank you. i think i understand and also i dont understand ;)

i usually try to avoid that this happens but in this case it was very unlucky and i was so dumb to overwrite the quicksave. i still wanted to try this anyway, to know what to do when this happens,

can i, when i stabilized the person, heal with another person then? (i wasnt able to try this since my other soldiers had no remaining health packs in their inventory)

thanks a lot for your help.

To the best of my recolletion yes you can then heal with another person. Remember only certain units with special training can revive and heal more than others.
