XCOM: Enemy Within freezing and xbox 360 controller issues

Every time I play XCOM: Enemy Within, within 2-5 turns my game freezes. Also every time I switch the controls to my 360 controller for some reason the game does not respond to the controller and I become stuck with an unresponsive controller and no mouse to change controls back, forcing me to "end task" the game.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown never froze on me before nor did I have this issue with my 360 controller before I installed XCOM: Enemy Within. I have tried restarting my computer, I updated the video card and 360 controller drivers and checked to see if the controller works on other games like Rogue Legacy, which it does.

I don't understand what is wrong because before I installed the dlc I never had these issues. Is anyone having the same issue or does anyone know how to help me?

I havnt played XCOM without installing the DLC, cause I bought both on a deal through amazon, but the game with both installed has been running really choppy and at one point I thought it had froze on me, I used a code to redeam off steam and downloaded from the site, but im going to download just XCOM from my amazon game list to my pc and see if theres a diff between them and how they run.

I figured out my problem. My firewall didn't recognize the game with the dlc and blocked it.

I works great, not really choppy at all. Check that your drivers are up to date, that your computer can run it above the recommended settings (or try lowering the graphics setting) and make sure there are no background processes using up all your computer's resources. Hope it helps. :)
