Rising Dragon bugged?

The achievement reads "Take your new ally into the final challenge."

I assume it means Zhang. I tried this in Enemy Within, took him into the final mission (as my volunteer) and the achievement didn't pop. Anyone else run into this?

It looks like that achievement was removed or something once the new game came out? I don't have it on my achievement list as a possible achievement and I've not even gotten Enemy Within yet.

I know I picked it up after purchasing EW. I can't remember if itwas on one of my EW plays or my wrapup of an old EU game though.

It's been hidden since before EW. I tried rolling back a little and taking him on the final mission not as the volunteer, still no go.

I think making Zhang the volunteer disables the achievement. I got it, but he was just part of the squad.

Perhaps the achievement became pointless when they added the Progeny DLC, which features another signature character. They might have removed it, since the alternative might have been introducing achievements for each new character.

Update: Did another run through on EU rather than EW and it worked.

The slingshot achievements appear to be unstable for EW. Some people claim to have gotten it OK most of the rest(like myself) had to go to EU to take them.

I got the Rising Dragon achievement while playing EW. Zhang was not the Volunteer.

same here, took zhang, he blew stuff up, not the volunteer, Rising Dragon achieved! when my cousin-in-law tried it though, zhang died during the last mission and he didnt get it, so he may have to stay alive for it too

Rising Dragon worked flawless on me in EW. MEC-Zang was with me on the Final Mission on Classic, survived, archivment gained.

So, you have to finish the mission to get the achievement? Isn't it enough to just have him in your squad when the mission starts?

In EU, I got it for simply starting it with Zhang, but he wasn't the Volunteer, but still Psionic. I saw one playthrough where Zhang was the volunteer, then he got it at the end. That playthrough was in EW.

Like some other achievements, i.e. Edison, I suspect this only works in EU.

I just got mine last night. Zhang was the Volunteer and fully gene modded...
