Body Armor Thread - What is the best pick for each class?
I'm finishing my 1st playtrought and I'm at the point where I have almost all armors and 6 Colonels (aka my main squad). I play with 2 assaults, 2 heavies, 1 sniper and 1 support.

Googling a little, it looks like Ghost armor is the best one, providing movement + stealth for flanking, a grapple for reaching high places and +20 defense. The Titan Armor only gives +4 HP over the Ghost (+6 on Assaults). Even thought this, the Ghost still seems way better.

So, except for an Archangel to my Sniper in the open maps (which still doesn't convince me that much), the only real choice seems the Ghost one.

Am I missing something?

Thanks for reading

Ghost armor is great, but not as useful once you get the mimetic skin genetic alteration. Still probably better for the +20 defense and grapple vs titan for all classes except assaults, which is what I use.

Ghost armor is endgame armor. Titan isn't. you have to raid the alien base, the choices are titan or skeleton. Ghost isn't an option.

If you raid the alien base early, you get easier aliens. And don't need armour at all.

ok. until you can shoot down the overseer, you don't want to raid the alien base unless it will save countries from leaving. because you'll give up a UFO a month to have the overseer fly by and not be shot down.

I raided the alien base late... like December or January.

it had a batch of aliens all over the gamette. 4 basic floaters, 6 drones, one sectopod, 2 muton elites, 2 muton beserkers, 4 muton regulars, 4 sectoids 2 mectoids, and the commander.

Ghost is the "best" armor, but Titan is more than functional at Classic and below during the endgame. I usually complete the campaign with 8 months of gametime, and Ghost Armor is pretty expensive so I usually just roll with 1 or 2 suits, and the rest of the squad in Titan.

Archangel is pretty good for Squadsight Snipers, even on the final mission, though it's by no means necessary.

The best armor for any class is the one that best suits the players intended tactical plan.

For example:

An assault colonel built for front line service wearing Titan,Chitin,Nano can be a very powerfull tool.

She has the skills to get in close and the toughness to endure a major beating if need be.Her HP bar is visually impressive for a human and practically makes her a god among men.

That said, she's still a team player and without support from other team members adorning "their" appropriate gear is little more than a show piece.

Addition: I like titan for it's HP.Late game off-screen bombardments from multiple sectopods is a very real threat and Titan Armor can help deal with that.
