Doing this very hard mission on Iron man get all my guys to extract and it randomly killed 2 when I left.

Quick Question: I've played through on Easy and Classic now, without this mission popping up. Is there a rough timescale for when I should be expecting it, or maybe a tickbox that I've not clicked in options?

had to look it up ( you guys mention the achievement )

it hits shortly after chrysalid introduction ( but only on your first game ever )
after that it's part of a random pool
if you are lucky it never crosses your path ^^

be lucky... it doesn't add anything but pointless danger ( all chrysalids get blown up so you don't get to keep their bodys - this mission rewards you nothing you can't miss :p )

if panic ( only in canada ) is not viable enough of a reason to do it, you are much better off ignoring it if it hits in an early stage :)

if early and you do wish to do it the easy way

take a rookie, ( if skeleton armor - equip )
escort to the ship,
stay out of sight from the chrysalid ship spawn,
retreat everyone ( except for rookie ) to evac,
rush rookie to trigger, ( extremelyeasy with graple )
activate,
pay respects to rookie ( he/she is not coming home tonight :'( )

name your base after rookie, he/she was THE FINEST specimen of soldier one could ever wish for (* salutes )

also, only in EW.... EU doesn't have it ( we can't see which version you played/play :) )

it pops up relatively early in the campaign first time you trigger it. Generally council mission after you do the slingshot missions. unless you've managed to trigger deluge.

its a pretty easy mission if you know what you are doing and know after you kill 40 something crystallids more stop spawning.

thats the safest way, snipers on the hill should have 100% chance to hit.

I did it on the PS3 version, but it doesn't seem to want to trigger on the PC version. Guess I'll keep pressing A until it pops up then?

Yay! Re-installed EW and it spawned. Finally got to redo it on the fourth play through!
