Help on Operation Progeny

Need some help here, is Operation Progeny enabled by default when starting new games in EW? Cus I have an issue here. Basically Operation Portent never started and I can't get Deluge and Furies.

Just to check, I started a new game (separate from my main game) and then checked its advanced settings and it said that Progeny was enabled, so I assume it was enabled when I started my current game. I checked the wikia and it said that Portent starts in the second month, but it never happened for me. I never reject Council missions (and never lose missions as I'm playing on Normal) and from the wikia and other sources it seems this mission would be easily recognisable, ie the French part, overwhelming Thin Men, and so on. However it just didn't happen, as I saw no French mission that sounded like it and I never interrogated an EXALT operative. Portent never happened, but the Slingshot missions did happen as per normal. Now its November 2015, EXALT and Alien Bases raided and XCOM HQ defended, but Deluge and Furies are not happening.

I just want to know, will changing any settings in the Advanced settings section when starting a game cause Progeny to not happen, other than disabling the operation of course. All I changed was disabling the tutorial except the Meld one as it is my first play in EW and I had already finished EU. Really quite upset that somehow the three Progeny missions are not happening for me. Thanks for any assistance on this matter!

its in the same month as Slingshot mission where you get Zhang is, and its noticable from the rewards being some scientists, some engineers and some money.

and you probably got it, and failed it because the guy you were escorting died.

If the guy I was escorting died then all the more I should have won Portent. The thing is, if one of my soldiers (except newbies and squaddies) die I would load a save from before and try to save him. Not in the spirit of XCOM but that's how I play *prepares for hate comments*, and I hate for anyone to die. If the guy I escorted died I would have loaded a save and tried to keep him from dying.

I assume the guy I would be escorting was an EXALT operative, and he would be babbling on about EXALT stuff (I assume). Also this operation would have unique opening dialogue like the mission with the dead whale, but I remember not hearing anny dialogue about French town or something like that at the beginning of any Council mission. Sorry if I'm sounding unreasonable or something, just really confused here >.<

You probably already did it and did not realise it was the mission.
The cond mission apparently apears late game. I myself have not gotten it yet either, but I keep restarting as I play I/I and can't seem to get a good run going to get past month 3.

I suppose it's possible, though I still doubt I could have forgotten about it. Anyway, the page on Deluge says it's offered 7 days after the XCOM Base Defence, but it's been months and it's never appeared. This mission is a unique one and I would definitely recall it :/

Ok, just saw a video on Portent and am certain I did not encounter it. I guess the game screwed up somehow, or I screwed up so badly I didn't even remember it.

the second mission only happens some time after alien base assault. so theres that too.

But the thing is I did not get to do Portent, the very first mission, in the first place.

Anyway I've resigned myself to the fact that I missed out on it and will just continue at where I left off. Maybe a few months later or something I'll come back and give Classic/Impossible/Ironman a spin and see if I can get Progeny to work properly. Thanks for all the help guys :)

So if I faled and the guy died will I not be able to do the exalt missions? Or the later mission? How will this effect my game?

These are optional missions that just make the game interesting. If you fail this the main game is not affected

you just don't get the prize of a bunch of psionic troops at the end of the game.
