Oh. Forgot an elite sniper with snapsho and 26 HP, and a badass elite medic with 22 HP. All of those guys with maximum defense and gen-mods.
Crazy. Was lucky somehow and, now, really happy to have done this :)
I also had exactly 1 sectoid commander and 1 muton elite in the Exalt HQ.
I wonder if those are scripted. I just assumed they were there because of pure RNG.
The sectoid commander was on the outside, he was among the first people that I triggered right at the start of the mission.
The muton elite was by the hologlobe, so he was one of the last to die.
the placement is random.
As for easier than EXALT raids, um you get 10 men right? and its only 30 EXALT with 3 boss EXALTs (which are basically 2 EXALT) and the muton and sectoid for whatever reason.
Its easier if you bring a hover SEntinel SHIV with damage reduction and a lot of alien grenades.
it can be fairly easy depending on where the ennemy spawn, it can be a nightmare for the same reason
last two times, i had no casualties, the time before that i got sandwiched on turn 2 by two squads(34 HP dudes and friends) and i had to retreat on turn 4 leaving 5 out of ten dead
I took my Hover SHIV with Damage control module, core armoring, and the one thats +1 DT. WHich reduces EXALT damage to like 2 damage done to it (except the bosses, the sniper hit it for 14 or something.) and you can have it flying around taking pain and regenerating
and besides the SHIV i brought 2 engineers, 9 alien grenades maybe some ghost grenades. but mostly had the SHIV run around flanking stuff. which killed it. and snipers and gunners squadsighted what they could. But you probably could gear up enough SHIVs with damage reduction and just hike thru with those.
Sometimes there is logic in my madness, but last night I just thought "Sod it - the EXALT missions are getting sillyand have been for a while now, so death to EXALT etc".
Honestly? I was just suprised at how easy the mission was, plus now I've got a huge monkey off my back when it comes to my overall strategy. And no more costly EXALT sabotage to keep scanning for!
Is it?
In my save it definitely was....
Germany was the first country to leave the council and the Exalt base was indeed in Germany. I just assumed that was a coincidence..... I don't think they would put this sort of Mechanic in it.
Otherwise we might as well skip a lot of trouble and do the Exalt base raid a lot sooner. (I would pretty much do it as soon as I get an infantry with Sentinel and everyone has carapace + laser, which is around September or so....)
nope it s not, definitely random
One thing I've learned is that EXALT have modifiers for placing their individual cells (the ones that require covert ops), and some key factors are whether the country has satellite coverage and if the country has left the XCOM Project.
So heres what I think - perhaps, in a few examples here and there, it's possible that given the time when EXALT decide to "build" their HQ (i.e. it's put on the map), often only one country will have left the XCOM project, and that country will have no satellite coverage.
Therefore, the outcome of where to place their HQ is heavily influenced by that one defecting country at the start of every Long War campaign. Of course there are examples where this is not the case, as per Happy saying he's had EXALT bases not in the first defecting country, but could worth looking into.
Same here.
I found it quite challenging, playing Classic. Those Exalt "bosses" are really strong, I even got a rocket strike from beyond LoS....
