Workshop Support.
I have seen some cool mods but when trying to get them working especially from nexus mods, they dont work, would love to see workshop support for such a good game, tired of workshop supporting low grade titles, but not alot of top sellers..

We've been begging them since like 2013 to officially add Steam Workshop :(

I reckon if it didn't happen by now, it won't happen ever. Modding XCOM isn't too hard though and nexusmods has some good stuff for it, both in terms of visual and gameplay tweaks

Oh well guess we are stuck trying to get mods together, lol
Erm no... unless you want Valve/Steam to start charging for Long War :P

like valve could decide LW would go for payment only...

I'm guessing you are not aware of the current controversial topic being discussed all over Steam then eh?

And yes it COULD happen with LW being a very successful mod and all.

again, how should they enforce that people charge you for their mod that is not even distributed via steam?
maybe you live in another world than me where steam controls all people and is the hub of the true internet?!
aside from me making fun of it, maybe you can link me some posting where it reads exactly that valve is forcing anyone to take money for their work

Mod creator is the one who decides if they want to charge for the mod on workshop, not valve. Besides there is nothing wrong with having workshop support, not everyone is going to try and charge for their stuff. Plus this may not even last anyway with the way it's starting.

IF ever LW gets hosted on a Steam Workshop system for X-Com then the chances of Valve monetizing it would be certain as Valve does intend to impose the system through out its Workshop component. So basically every game on Steam with Workshop support can be monetized by Valve.

If this topic isn't scaring you yet then you should head on over the Skyrim forums here on Steam as well as the one for Cities Skylines.

It`s not Valve who decides wether a mod is monetized. It`s the mod creator. Valve just takes a 75% cut.

Now I~m certain they`re going to encourage people to monetize the content, but in the long run... who cares ? Free mods aren`t going to go away, and if the content is good enough to justify the price I`ll happily pay it, and if it isn`t... well then I won`t.

They're not going to add it.

1. Support has stopped - no more money is being spent on this game.
2. Its basically a console game and those are almost always designed to make modification a nightmare. Everything possible is locked in the binaries and before WGhost's UPK modder utility adding multiple mods was almost impossible - they overwrote each other. Its not *impossible* but reason #1 is why its not going to happen.
