March 1st, 2015 is the date that the game begins on, when you load it up and your first tactical mission begins.
Which means that somewhere in the world, (Europe? Asia? Who knows...) as we type back and forth there are engineers doing final tests and powering up generators. Central Officer Bradford is running through checklists, awaiting the arrival of the Commander. In two days, humanity takes the fight to the aliens.
Of course it's fiction, but it's fun to imagine that it's not.
"I am going to have a Trooper Adoption Program. Unlike other, popular XCOM series, I will not be naming troops after people from Reddit or friends lists. What this entails is that you will get to choose from the full roster (or at random, if you prefer) one of my Troopers to adopt. You'll get to choose their hairstyle/color and Nickname (when they earn one). Your trooper will be featured in microfiction, and will likely be chosen more often for missions in-game, as well. Certain things, such as the armor color and options, perk choices, will be at my discretion, though you are certainly welcome to state preferences, and I'll take them into consideration."
My reason is that I want to try to think of my troopers as people in the world, fighting the fight. A trooper from Nigeria named XIcebergX kind of breaks immersion, yanno?
But I will be making an announcement here as well as a few other places.
It`s vanilla though. Asia or Africa would be much, much better.
