I am able to play the game now. 1/9/25

I disabled all 3 of the dlcs for the game through it's properties menu.
then I re enabled them one at a time. each one allows the game to run until you get to the larger more recent dlc. after the 3rd one installs it will prompt a system framework update to 3.0 I think was the version. after this... I was able to play. haven't been past the first level this time through yet, but so far so good.

I also played the game. I confirmed being able to start and play both versions, enemy unknown and enemy within. I deleted my negative review.

It's interesting how this issue turns out differently for everybody.

I recently purchased EW and also had the executable issue. Then I just changed the language to English and back to my language and it worked fine.

They did not fix it. It's just an inconsistent cause.

Working for me too, I have just been launching it every day for the past 5 days and today it just decided to work. Removing negative review, but leaving the issue up because of it's inconsistency.

Yesterday I wanted to play XCOM again. After I installed, the game ran into the endless update loop. I tried every suggestion I could find on both reddit and Steam, but nothing worked. Spent a good 2 hours before I gave up, uninstalled again, and went to bed.

Today I woke up and tried to install once more... now the game works fine. Started it a few times and it launches without fail.

Hoping it will still work when I get home.
Hopefully I'm playing XCOM tonight.

I can also confirm that since yesterday I can play enemy unknown as well as enemy within. I have tried countless times since December to start the game, always with the same unfavorable course of an execution file that could not be updated. out of frustration I played xcom2 and tried to start xcom again and again yesterday it worked without any problems, all I did was let time pass ;) finally it is running now, but somehow nothing was patched for me, at least I didn't notice it.
