Game crashing on startup
So ive decided to give this Game a go again, however after selecting either Enemy Unknown or Enemy Within from the launcher the Game refused to launch.
First I figured it was because I had some Mods installed and they mightve been outdated, so I did a fresh install without any modified files, and after that I could start the Game, however once I got past the initial intro and loading screen the Game immediatly crashes upon reaching the main menu. Does anybody else have an idea that might have caused this?
And is it a recent issue (since I remember a few months ago the Game was running fine), or is it something thats been happening for a while now?

Hey, jackpelon7 - it turned out that for Eagleclaws17 it was OneDrive messing around by restoring his \Documents subfolders for the game, lol :)) You can add it to the list of your advices (to disable any OneDrive sync settings) which are by all means valuable. Cheers!

if you attempted to mod it you would need to delete the game from the folder it self found by right clicking the game in your steam library then properties then local files. if this isnt the case then perhaps try running as admin with the exe in the same file locations. found just by rightlicking the exe. this helps in a verity of game for many different reasons most steam reason boil down to the root directory steam games are stored in are in a protected file system called program files x64 causeing many problems in its own ways

I would rather reinstall the game than just verify files cause I have already read reports that verification of the files does not help. Its probably some recent Windows updating of drivers/libraries/whatever

Hi just check the integrity of the local game files via steam and then install these tools:
- Install the directx 9.0 offline version.
-Install the steamworks redistributables from steam are c++ libraries necessary for games and programs.

- Finally, delete the config folder from the documents folder, in my case it is here:
D:\Documents\my games\XCOM - Enemy Within\XComGame

when you start the game it will be recreated and everything will be fine...
I advise you to have the game on a local drive other than C/: since programs and the operating system are installed here and sometimes antirus and firewall give false positives and eliminate or limit your games... Install it on a drive local D/: or E/; or F/: or G/:

see you.... :steamthumbsup::steamthumbsup::steamthumbsup:
