The stupidity of it is way beyond anything I could say to make fun of it.
I usually use the vest on assault soldiers early in the game as they are usually close to enemies in order to use the shotgun to it's full potential and they can benefit from the extra armor (hp) it provides, especially early on. Nades are for tossing, so assault don't really need them that much.
Normal human weapons being what?
Ballistic weapons (things that go boom and metal comes out the end) would be a no, they are the "low-tech" human weapons.
Later on you can research lasers and plasma weapons though which you also build yourself, meaning they are also human weapons (just based on alien weaponry), So if counting those then yes, you can indeed.
Obviously not including plasma weapons lol. I was referring to weapons based on current weaponry (ie assault rifles, pistols, rockets, grenades) and perhaps laser rifles since they are not used by the aliens (at least so far in my gameplay and based on the original games).
