Nano Fiber Vest, what am I doing wrong?
I gave the order to build 5 of them. I commenced the program and according to engineering I have built them. But they don't appear in the barracks as an option in the loadout for my soldiers. The money for them is gone too.

OK, never mind. Apparentlly they only become available to my soldiers as a replacement for my grenades or the scope equipment...
The stupidity of it is way beyond anything I could say to make fun of it.

This was my first mistake as well. I thought I could replace their armor, but you'll need a bit more research before that happens :)

I usually use the vest on assault soldiers early in the game as they are usually close to enemies in order to use the shotgun to it's full potential and they can benefit from the extra armor (hp) it provides, especially early on. Nades are for tossing, so assault don't really need them that much.

U will have the same with chitin plating later (but on them its more obvious because it named plating and not vest) but the plating is real useful instead of the vest.

I don't know, the vest is nice and such but I miss my grenades. They are pretty awesome. They make aliens go sky diving.

when u soldiers made some ranks and get better aim/weapons & u start face u first Mutons, grenades will grow more useless.
It goes under the armor, so its kinda understandable.

Use the respirator implant instead. Same HP with protection from Thinmens' spit cloud and seeker strangulation.

So, is the game beatable with using just normal human weapons?

depends on the difficulty, but i dont recomment u use ballistic 2-4 dmg weapons vs Muton Elite with 18HP and Heavy Plasma weapons that hit for 10 or more dmg in classic or even Etherreals.

Probably not. Best is to reseach armor upgrade and beam weapons as soon as possible.

Normal human weapons being what?
Ballistic weapons (things that go boom and metal comes out the end) would be a no, they are the "low-tech" human weapons.
Later on you can research lasers and plasma weapons though which you also build yourself, meaning they are also human weapons (just based on alien weaponry), So if counting those then yes, you can indeed.

Obviously not including plasma weapons lol. I was referring to weapons based on current weaponry (ie assault rifles, pistols, rockets, grenades) and perhaps laser rifles since they are not used by the aliens (at least so far in my gameplay and based on the original games).

laser rifles should be fine to pass overall mission below classic level difficulty, although it is still a bit risky

Hmm, are you guys implying with higher difficulty (classic in particulr), the HP of aliens and effectiveness of your weapons, change?
