What's "will" good for?
Except for likelyhood to succeed in psi training (if high) and to panic in combat (if low)? Does it effect if they're prone to being mind-controlled? What else?

I believe it helps protect against mind control and other psi nasties, as well as increasing your psi chance to hit.

It also affects the damage of the "Rift" ability.

Will is very important early game to avoid having your guys shot in the back by his teammates and later in the game in pretty much all things psi related. Make sure you get yourself good Will stat soldiers.

Higher Will = Higher chance to resit Psi attacks and succeed in them. Direct psi attacks (Apart from Psi Lance) are calculated by Users Will - Targets Will.

Higher Will = More like to be gifted

Higher Will = Less likely to panic

It's very useful.

High Will is needed for Xavier achievement as well. You can boost your Will with Psi Armor, Psi Inspiration, Combat Stims and also land a successful Mindfray on the Ethereal you are attempting to Mind Control. Also helps if they are damaged.

Higher Will + Neural Feedback = Good Damage vs Ethereals and Sectoid Commanders. If you have 90 Will you can do 10 Damage to them when they use a Psi attack against you regardless of whether the Psi attack is successful. If you get Lucky and 1 of your Psi Soldiers has 120 Base Will + 20 from Psi Armor you can 1 shot a Sectoid Commander(C or I) that attempts a Psi attack against him.

Rift can kill 1 of 2 Sectopods in the final mission if your Volunteer's Will is high enough it does damage up front then when it finishes it will kill the Sectopod because it doesn't have any Will. Then you can just FF the last one down. I'm not sure if you can kill both due to the fact that one of them tends to advance when activated.

IMO 90+ Will is good on a Colonel, anything higher is even better. Mind you that is if you have Iron Will unlocked at the OTS.

Max Will without Iron Will unlocked is 82 at Colonel, with Iron Will it's 124.

Was 126 on Annette? Did you have either Not Created Equally or Hidden Potential active?

The 133 would only be possible if the max Will per promotion was 14 or higher, which many sources say it's only 12.

I have recently been hiring a bunch of recruits late game to see what I can get in terms of Will stat and so far I have never gotten more than 52 on a Squaddie w/ Iron Will. Unless they changed Will calculation or perhaps Easy Difficulty has some bonus.(I wouldn't know I played Easy once)

it wasnt easymode where i got here. just hidden potential and not created equial meeting iron will on a lucky rookie. she startet with 60 (or was it 65? so long ago... )

Only NCE affects the ability for improved, or worse, Will. This was before EW, so I just got extremely lucky. She came in with some 114 Will, then got even more. HP only affects HP and Aim boosts.
