Best armor in enemy within?
What's the best armor? I thought it would be ghost armor but most of my troops are gene modded with memetic skin so they can't use the stealth on the armor.

And Arc angel also seems useless when they can jump any hight. Only snipers with squad site take advantage of flying.

Titan Armour for +10 Health

I had heared that slows you down your movement though.
Actually, the movement thing is due to the other, lighter armours - I believe that certain ones (skeleton, ghost) ADD additional movement, as well as some defence.

The heavier armour instead adds just health, but a lot more of it.

Either Titan or Ghost.

Titan gives + 10 hp and now with mimetic skin you can have cloak and with muscle fiber density you can get roof access.

Ghost gives only 6 hp but with tactical rigging you can give your soldiers chitin plating to compensate. In addition you also get +20 defense and +3 movement which I feel are more important than raw HP. You can also give up mimetic skin since 4 cloaks in enough for any mission.

I would say overall Ghost in better.

As of EW both armors are immune to poison and fire hazards.

Agree with P51H Mustang

Plus remember that on harder difficulty your resources are stretched. You'll not have as much Meld nor money for genetic super soldiers. Your research will be reduced too as you struggle to get the satellites up and Firestorms. So with that in mind Ghost and Titan, followed by Psi for the end game.

Ghost armor is better because of the 20 defense and 3 movement. In full cover you will have at least 60 defense so an alien with 85 aim will only have 25% chance to hit you. In Titan armor it is 45%. It's a huge difference.

Back in EU, because there was no rush for Meld, I loved Titan, and immunity to poison and the ability to take cover near fire was nice. In EW, Ghost is my preference. It has the same boosts in EU with the addition of Titan Armor's immunities.

lol titan with memetic skin is so much better then ghost.... and its not even that hard to get the meld reqiuerd...

What is the point of the HP gain if you are just going to cloak? Counterintuitive.
+20 defense and +3 movement is flatout better.

Ghost is the best armor. Since Ghosting and Ghost Grenades don't work with Mimetic Skin, I would rather spend Meld elsewhere.

Extra HP gained from Titan armor does not help too much. I'd much rather have the extra defense from Ghost armor to avoid getting shot in the first place. The extra movement also helps for getting into the correct cover in order to minimize your chances of getting shot at. Titan+Mimetic is okay, but as others have said, Meld isn't exactly an easy resource to get ahold of on Impossible. Even if you take Mimetic Skin, the extra movement and defense win over Titan armor, unless you are prone to positioning your units in correctly and getting them flanked (at which point the criticals from the aliens would probably kill you anyways.)

As a former proponent of Titan during the initial month of EW, I've been swayed (rarely happens :psi:) to Ghost because of the continuity of a closed armor system from Titan. In EU, only Titan gave the Poison/Fire Immunity. At first in EW, I thought it was the same and believed Titan + Mimetic + Muscle Fiber Density would be better and last the entire game. However, someone, I think P51, showed us a screenshot of a game edit file showing the poison/fire immunity atttributes applied to Ghost, in addition to the normal Ghost bonuses of +20 defense, +3 movement, and stealth at any point, even when detected. I don't know if this is another bug that 2k/Firaxis overlooked, but it's there. And while it's there, Ghost will continue to be the best armor in the game. With Tactical Rigging, it's easy to slap on Chitin and be comparable to Titan in hitpoints. If they decide to fix/change this in the future, it can be debatable on which is best again. To me, it's not a big deal once you have your A (and B) team with mimetic and jumpy legs and your BS/RF soldiers with Hyper Reactive Pupils - the game is already won.

Even on classic difficulty, I don't think I've ever lost a single soldier once I've reached that late in the game, so I guess it doesn't matter all that much either way. Titan is also much cheaper than Ghost armor, so I tend to build lots of Titan Armors, and just beat the game with that.

If I have the resources, I'd use Titan armor for Assaults, Ghost for everyone else except psi soldiers. Extra conditioning means that there's a 6hp difference between the the two, instead of just 4 HP. Throw in Chitin Plate and Stimpacks, and I just use Assaults as bait and stand them out in the open to be beat on by everyone.
