WTF Thin Men
Just doing a playthrough on classic Enemy Within and every single thin man I find, every time he shoots, always hits and crits for 6 to 9 damage. Full cover, half cover, on top of a building, in smoke , doesnt matter. Now this is pure ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I put it down to bad luck the first 3 dead rookies and squaddies, now after having most of a team killed in 1 round from cross map shots when they are in cover, now im at the point of shoving my keyboard up the ass of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dev who made the thin man bonuses so OP.

Im curious as to what bonuses they get apart from the gun itself ?

1.) Move slowly and have your squad on Overwatch when you end the turn. That way if they patrol into you, you might kill 1 or even 2 when your Overwatch goes off. Don't run around the map wantonly, you want to be ready when you make contact.

2.) Blow up their cover. Rockets, HE grenades, this will leave them exposed and will most likely mean you kill them.

3.) Flank them, use your Assaults and Scouts to flank them with shotguns for easy kills.

The longer you leave enemies alive, the longer they have time to do damage to you.
Never leave an enemy in sight of you and alive. unless you don't care that your guy dies.

I mean if its a 10% chance to crit and a 40% chance to hit, thats a 4% chance to die. would you really accept that?

Unfortunately, they're still very accurate even when they move.

Sure, but often you can move back a single move, set up OW, and catch them as they move into position. And often, to get you back into LOS, *they* have to do a Double-move.

You get a shot at them on their turn, and you can reduce the number of them that can shoot at you.
But see, now you're taking sub-optimal shots with Overwatch that don't even have a chance to crit, so killing them is highly unlikely now. And the only way they'd have to double move is if you had to double move, because thinmen can pretty much move anywhere unhindered.

Honestly it's best to kill as many as possible early on (where you'll probably only fight 1-2 at a time) just so you have the terrain advantage when dealing with future aliens. And you can usually do that with grenades. And you'd better be bringing grenades if you don't have heavies.

flamethrower works nice :)
I hate the flamethrower. mainly because it destroys weapon fragments and has limited uses.

the kinetic strike module has infinite uses and gives your robot +3 move. which useful later with an EMP module. and can be used twice in one turn (the skill he gets at major makes it only use half his bar)

Flamethrower is 'good' in long war I use both. but kinetic strike module is just BETTER

And that's probably why they're killing you: you let them live long enough to fire.
I can't really state it any better than this.
snipers from extreme range are your friends.they can easily eat thin men for breakfast.only problem i usually ever have with them is their annoying habit of poisoning my team mates.
SNipers are very coin flip until they have the ranks to hit the target. I would not rely on them the first few months if a miss means you die.

instead have them take their shot, then follow thru with a rocket when they miss.
yes, here too, on classic mode they just always hit ( like 95% of the time ), even at very long distance, where you have 4 % chance to hit them; yes its silly; on classic mode you just need to always kill all of them before they get a chance to shoot you . . . very realistic.
and yes its true : " it makes all tactics worthless. taking cover , overwatch, gaining high ground. I may as well send my troops in g strings and mankinis and have them mardigras down the middle of the map"
as interesting as this all is,there are worse enemies on the higher difficulties than the thin men,at least for me,anyway.honestly though,i love the "unfairness" of this game.makes beating them all the more sweeter.
I just think that bad luck and too many vital team members in the game were in sick bay. Ive dumped that game and started again.
Classic Ironman. 3rd mission, 2nd turn. Killed 2 seekers with a rocket. Killed 2 floaters with a couple of grenades. Kill 1 thinman with a critical headshot. 5 dead from 4 squadies in 1 turn. 2 Thinmen left.

That's why you kill as many as possible and set up for the next turn. Preferably with smokes.
MEC with flamethrower and a heavy with rockets is your best friend
