there's usually a lot of thin men on that mission, and if you are unlucky enough to get it early on can be quite difficult.
i've lost whole squads on that mission, other times i've beaten it with no casualties.
If we talk about a normal bomb disposal on a train yard this things are very smooth compared to some other bomb missions, becasue u get tons of cover.
If we talk about Confounding light than u must se the risk reward thing, not for the mision itself but for the last mission of that cycle, and than u must abdmit that the reward is much bigger than the danger. hell i got my special archivment for that mission back in EU (more than 3 turns left) so u can say its not so hard and undoable. When u play on Classic and u survived Friends in Low Places the Train is a lttle difficulty climb but Gankplank on the other side is very easy compared to the first two.
and its normal to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ if you don't know what you are doing.
It's best to just count your losses and move on! The most memorable missions are those where you barely scrape by or even just haul ass to the extraction point to save a few good soldiers.
This! I can still to this day remember epic battles from the original xcom where a rookie survived to save the day. Losing soliders is part of the fun, at least to me.
Nope.
But you have to be relentlessly agressive to do it.
Keep in mind that you *don't have to kill anything*.
You just have to tag the transponders and get to the end zone.
So
Don't let the aliens tarpit
Take some guys with heavy weapons and armor
Take some squadsight snipers
Take some guys who can move fast
Don't worry about corpse recovery or anything. Blow the ♥♥♥♥ out of everything with rockets if necessary.
Battlescanners and rockets from beyond visual range are an awesome combination, followed up with a squadsight shot to finish off survivors.
