What is "Operation Progeny"

I'm looking thorugh the Advanced Options and...is that just disabling story mode? (No more cut-scenes from the intro and all that jazz?) I'll be honest. I don't care much about the story, it's somewhat interesting but I just love the tactical gameplay and upgrading my weapons/armor. If I uncheck this...will I be able to just play the game?

I'm still somewhat new to this game it's just I don't care about the story lol. Should I even check "Reduce Beginner V0"?

operation progeny is a series of missions where you get a french girl and some others who are guranteed gifted.

"Reduce beginner voiceover"" is mostly "make dr. vahlen shut up about throwing explosions at aliens"

Slingshot and Progeny are both sub-plots. Slingshot is about a Chinese mobster with a strange device, that he is offering to give XCOM. He's worried about his bosses involvement with the aliens and betrays the Triads to help save humanity. Progeny is about a struggle between the aliens, XCOM and Advent. They are fighting over the contents of a french military convoy, which turns out to be a powerful alien asset.

Both Slingshot and Progeny are 3 mission story chains that start in the second month. Missions are real ball-breakers, if you don't know what you're doing. Bloody good rewards at the end of both if you can complete all the missions.

Reduce VO (voice over) simply turns off the helpful advice of Vahlen during missions and a few other voiced pop ups during game play.

Ah alright my mistake guys lol. I guess I'll simply just skip those cut-scenes in the game. I'll probably turn on Reduce VO however.
