Game not starting

Hello all,

Attempted eery fix scenario out there and nothing. Verify Files also does nothing. When I click "play" the message goes "Updating Executable" then "play" returns to green...

Any official position on a fix?

in my case the game was working just fine a couple hours ago... I was playing with the Long War mod 1.0 and decided I wanted to play some vanilla EW so I just deleted the entire game from the Steam folder and then downloaded it from Steam again, then the problem started.

Played 2 days ago, decided to reinstall today for new version of mods and now it dosen't launch ;/ tryed clearing steam cache, reinstalling and everything else from different forum thread.

Welp, we did purchase game here. They broke it. Now we can pirate it?

I re-installed the game today and had the same problem.
What I did was something that was already recommend in another thread.

First I went into the Games Folders and searched for the XcomGame.exe / XcomGame1.exe and the XcomEW.exe / XcomLauncher.exe in the binaries/Win32 Folders. I set them to Compatibility Mode with Windows 8.

Then I returned to steam and switched the language to french.
I started the xcomgame.exe from the Win32 Folder and the launcher popped up, selected Xcom Base Game and it started normal. But in French obviously.

Closed the game, turned language back to german, game downloaded some files again, added the "-nostartupmovies" command to the launch options and started again.

Game runs without any problem now.

Tried it and it really does the same... no launcher appears and the game simply stops.

HEY STEAM A LITTLE ATTENTION HERE...
