you got two more soldiers like in vanilla and you get important skills earlier, so the raised firepower should manage that ;) (at least if its only one)
here a view tips for beginers about changes in the mechanics http://steamcommunity.com/app/200510/discussions/0/45350245730453786/
Oh I`m sure it`s not that difficult to deal with. 10 HP or no it`s still just an Outsider. But this HP inflation applies to all other aliens too right ? What does the sectopod have ? 100 HP and a flat damage reduction + percentile armour ?
the biggest have more than 30 (not sure how much exactly because the game cannot show over 30 at the moment), but you have more possibilties to raise your damage than in vanilla, for example shredder or high damage ammo as utilities. but sectopods are still a fearsom opponent^^
to make things a little more tense, outsiders regenerate hitpoints now and you can meet later packs of five with a leader :D but its doable, lw on normal is not so hard than impossible in vanilla, just different
The thing about playing on a harder dificulty than you can handle, you get much better as a player.
Huge strategy shift required
You will figure out how to handle all its challenges pretty quick, even when it throws things like 44 Chryssalid terror missions at you.
I love it
@sheep from hell: I think in a recent update, they made it possible to show up to 60hp
@bulldog
One thing to note is that pretty much every aspect is harder :
- base management : buildings take a long time and are expensive, uplinks/nexus give less satellite slots, workshops/labs don't include engineers/scientist, etc
- air war is tough : you need more aircraft, they're expensive, etc
- missions can be tough too: pods are more diversified, some aliens have more health, some (like the outsiders) regen health, they have more perks (some have low profile, covering fire, etc)
Also, there's much more missions/ufo per month, although you don't need to accept them all. And it's not the end of the world if you lose some missions, but it means you need much more soldiers than vanilla. There's only 1 location for abduction missions, so you don't have to worry about panic growing everywhere, but terror missions will definitely increase the panic.
On the other hand, your squad is bigger, you have more tools like flashbang grenades, and more variety in weapons (trade firepower for mobility/aim), more classes (every vanilla class is divided into 2 subclasses). You get important perks sooner (like squadsight now the first perk for snipers), etc so it's not just for masochists.
Well there's just too many changes, but it's definitely better than vanilla. In vanilla, if you do well the first 2 months (or even the first 2 or 3 missions on I/I if you know what you're doing), you've basically won the war. Anyway, just like with any modded game, I'd still recommend to play vanilla first, they wouldn't bother modding a bad game.
