Unusually frequent missions
Hi!

I've played through Enemy Unknown twice and got the "within" version on a sale and decided to play through that now. Here's my concern though:
I play on normal difficulty with a bunch of extra options enabled. Among them the 2 extra "quest lines" or what to call them. The thing is that I now get an insane amount of missions making it really hard. I have a mission almost every day, it's crazy! I struggle to keep up as a 10 day injury on a soldier basically makes them miss 10 missions and others get injured during that time. Im running out of soldiers. Also the panic in the world is getting crazy... It's way more intense than I remember it being when I used to play just Enemy unknown.
I'm not saying it's game breaking, but it's damn hard (for me at least) and I tremble at the thought of playing on a higher difficulty.

TL;DR - I get the feeling the frequenzy at which missions are given is going bananas since I started playing enemy within. Any1 else have the same experience? Just curious.

I've basically only played EW (never played EU seriously, tbh) so I can't give a really accurate comparison, but...

The only "extra option" that I think would change the frequency of missions is Marathon. That being said, there's only a set number of missions (more or less) per month so maybe you're getting unlucky and rolling them all early?

In the first month you should get:
- the initial starting abduction mission
- 2 more abductions, one in the first half, second in second half
- one UFO crash if you actually shoot the UFO down
- one council mission

That's basically 5 missions in one month. The exact day when they occur is randomized. From the second month onwards, the exact number of missions does increase with the addition of landings, terror missions and EXALT but it's never close to 1 mission / day, ever.

If you have more than this, it's a bug. I've played this game for 1300 hours+ and in the original game I've never had a problem with mission frequency. you are either exaggerating, got some very unlucky period that should soon subside or there's some bug of which I never heard of.

What can happen at times is that you get every mission in a month all at once. Which is what it seems you are experiencing. Then the rest of the month is dead quite.

I remeber having an abduction, exalt extraction, terror, ufo landing and 2 last slingshots all within hours(!) of each other.
Also, i think there was a mission between the slingshots almost half of my playthroughs.

There are a lot EXALT missions and it seems it is mixed in as simple addition to the usual missions.

I played a lot Enemy Unknown but this is the first time I play Enemy Within.

I too noticed that you have more mission and that the panic level rises fast. Last is due to the EXALT which I figured out a bit late.

Nevermind I managed to pass that phase eleminated the EXALT base and didn't lose one single country despite that there where 5 red's at one time!

However I play the game a bit special. Since I have ethic issues with modifying humans I never build a genlab nor a MECs argumentation lab and I first build my base and did the research and eleminated that exalt before continueing in the alien story. You know just don't do the "priority" research.

The start is hard but once you have some equipment and you learn to do the mission carefully with "watchover" or how that is called you hardly lose anyone anymore.

So far it seems one can play Enemy Within without ever doing a Genmanipulation or a MECs argumentation and that's fine for me.

Oh forgot. Once the EXALT base is gone it gets a lot more relaxed. The mission floot gets reduced to a few a month.
