My squad lineup is 2 Heavys, 1 Support, 2 Assault and 1 Sniper
Personally I prefer sniper MECs for the aim bonus or Support MECs for the defense aura. Just grab an appropriate squaddie and chop chop.
I generally only MEC a heavy and a sniper. I tend to MEC the heavy as early as possible, and I wait to MEC the sniper until after he/she hits Colonel (so the aim is maxed out). The heavy helps survive the early game, and the sniper is very useful in the late game.
Well most of my A squad is Col already and my B squad is about to hit Lt and Cpt, but Im in month of july :s (didnt notice how much of the months i let pass) and I am about to finally assualt the base lol.
They can take a lot of damage that otherwise would have hit one of the still fully organic soldiers and repair themselves, meaning they won't be out of the game for several days after the mission, and the particle cannon is extremely destructive at close to medium range.
It is just costly to research all the lab & foundry projects needed.
I am using one assault-MEC with all the upgrades that improve durability, the rest of the squad are genetically enhanced soldiers and a hover SHIV.
i guess u play normal or easy?
MECs are u early game Tanks when u start. play c/i or i/i and u will see.
In easy/normal u dont need any of both, in classic and above u need a mix of cyber and gen to get the best results.
