The Dark History of the Sectoid!
Possible Spoilers

I screenshotted these scenes from a XCOM EU trailer. They seem to regard where the aliens came from, specifically the sectoid.

The first picture shows sectoids that appear to be enslaved. They are in a line with bound together by a chain of sorts.

The second picture shows sectoids in the same tanks of fluid that we see humans put in when the alien base raid is started.

The third pic is actually of a heavy floater instead of sectoid. It’s connected to something off screen by several metal tubes. My best guess is that it might be the testing of the heavy floater before it was put into use.

These pictures come one right after the other in less than a second. You can see the video I got them from and the minute:second mark in the photos. Go take a look at the video or just use the pictures here. Either way, tell me what you think below.

Wow, it flashes by so quickly that I never noticed, great find. I now have a tiny bit of sympathy for those sectoids, but I'll still slaughter them for trying to psi spam.

Well,

Pretty much every alien race including the Etheral themselves are slaves of sorts or so they claim in the final level.

Wow, interesting find. Maybe the Sectoids used to be just like us except Sectoids until they were taken by the Ethereals.
well Sectoids are pretty much their b*tches.

People say the Mutons have their free will, but they serve as Mercenaries for the Etherals

If there was no XCOM 2 I would assume that the aliens planed to do the same to the humans. But from what I've seen from XCOM 2, humans don't seen to be completely enslaved.... yet?

The elders are slowly dying like Ra in Stargate, so they bopped around the galaxy experimenting on sentient species to find the Hogwart Magical DNA glue that will build them superpsychic James Cameron bodies. They managed to get the earth to surrender and under control in about 20 years, only at the end when you disrupt the Hogwarts Internet everyone that was all cool with being cured of cancer and surreptitiously melted into glue decides after one commercial they should all rise up and fight back despite 20 years of getting fat and lazy. And, just like if the end of Wall-E was actually a fight against overwhelmingly powerful alien overlords desperate to do anything besides die, they win! Of course, XCOM played a big part in that, by building the commander his very own James Cameron Psychic Supersuit to lead an XCOM team into the Kaiju Rift because it's keyed to genetic code, where you kill what is apparently the last three of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the neighborhood.

So you're right, not enslaved as such.

while i never played the bureau:xcom declassified, this - http://xcom.wikia.com/wiki/Sectoid_(The_Bureau:_XCOM_Declassified) implies that there's a race in charge but not mentioned in Xcom EU/EW which originaly enslaved/hired (in the case of the mutons) the enemies we verse throughout the Xcom games

from what i can gather the original ethereals weren't arses, simply used by this http://xcom.wikia.com/wiki/Zudjari race to further their own goals. what happened between the 2 games that turned them against us is questionable, and if anyone has played the bureau id happily be corrected if what ive claimed is wrong.

Did the ethereals come from a different planet then the rest of the aleins? How many plantes in total did the sectoids, mutons, chryssalid, and thinmen come from?
