[LW] Plasma weapons/Pulse weapons or Advanced power armor?
I'm very low on alloys and money, but have the ability to research pulse or plasma weaponry. The month is late November. What should i do? Research pulse or plasma? or should i just expand my armor technologies? I currently am using Gauss weaponry and have a few aegis/banshee armor

I´m actually at the same stage and decided to skip pulse and go direct to plasma as I have noticed Gauss now not working very effectively in combat.

Generally speaking I skip Advanced Gauss.

Pulse is two researches, Plasma is like 5. you got a plasma pistols, plasma rifles, plasma snipers, plasma heavy, Plasma vehicle.

And I may be missing some from my memory. Shotguns are in secotpod autopsy for some reason, its an additional research.

Plasma gets +1 damage over pulse and an additional +1 damage over pulse with a stellarator and a Enhanced Plasma foundry project.

this is all very expensive in terms of money, alloys, time and whatnot.

I skipped Gauss because Gauss is the same as Pulse in terms of alloy cost. Pulse just costs more elerium and spacebucks.

But ... plasma is... alot more expensive past that.

you are out of alloys because you researched Gauss. also because you made Gauss weapons.

possibly because you blew up all the robots, but seems like you bought advanced Gauss.

that was a poor tactical choice. well unless you want the mine launcher. and recoilless rocket launcher.

So I would suggest Titan and Pulse weapons to stop the bloodletting, and plasma when you get spare cash and fragments as you get them.

also use Chem Grenades and Enhanced Laser to put the +1 damage part on your damage dealers.

Titan is (spacebucks,Alloy,Elerium, Meld) 300/60/40/8

Gauss rifle to rifle is
90/28/6/0
Pulse is
200/35/35/0
Plasma is
350/80/50/3+ one alien rifle.

so easily 2 pulse rifles for the cost of one plasma. Plasma is not something you do when you are strapped for cash.

Gauss have better damage to machine unit like gray in suit like cockroaches.

I don't think researching plasma weaponry is a good idea as you are both low in alloys and budget . Pulse weaponry take only 2 researches and cost much less money and resources to make .
My current campaign is in mid october . Advanced gauss done and just take 11 days to get pulse weaponry but i find gauss weapon is pretty solid . Also , proximity mine launcher (in my case) opens a whole new way of engaging pods .

He said thanks for the help. He made his decison, I showed him Pulse weapons cost about the same as Gauss in terms of alloys (28 v 35)

He's alloy starved because he's been working on the armors

So its more of a build order research order thing. you'll be alloy starved in long war. the trick is moderation.

you don't build 8 suits of armor past carapace or whatever. that costs too much. You build 2 for your forward tanks everyone else stays in Carapace, until you get to titan. you pass the armor down the line.

With guns I did the first tier of Gauss then went pulse. again keep an eye on your alloy cost.

Alloy for Alloy I'd RATHER have pulse weapons over Gauss. Alloy for Alloy I can do without the mine launcher and recoiless launcher (and rocketeer entirely)

If you don't budget your alloys you'll run out, and I'd rather run out while my guys are in Pulse than in Gauss.
