Enemy within vs enemy unknown
I know Within is an imporovement upon Unknown, but my question is if I will get more unique content if I do EU before EW? Basically, are there different missions in EU? Anything different that would be worthwhile for playing EU first? Thanks. :2016watermelon:

Like most expansion packs, EW adds enough to EU to make X-COM interesting in new ways. EW is literally a 'game-changer', adding in a lot of timed missions where you have to track down the special goop that allows you to make special troops and enhancements. While it is 'neat', it was always meant as a 'return-to-x-com' experience instead of a replacement. I highly recommend at least trying EU first for a few hours before starting an EW campaign.

Short answer: No
There are 1 or 2 Maps that got kicked out of the Rotation because Bugs and bad design, but u get several new map in EW in exchange. Exept from that EW has all that EU has and more.

No need to play Enemy Unknown. You are not missing out on anything.

Skip EU, you will miss nothing.

EW is a more balanced, more polished and more content rich. It has everything EU does except 2 non-story maps that don't matter and are replaced with better alternatives.

Enemy within has everything enemy unknown has + more
(but) game can be a bit more easy for you if new to game if you start with enemy unknown

Enemy Within is a marketing stunt. It's a moddified version of Enemy Unknown. Funny things is Complete Edition has both, which is tuely pointless to even include Enemy Unknown. It's just a poorly executed marketing plot to boost sales. Enemy Within is Enemy Unknown with added missions and features and not really a completely new game like XCom 2. It's like when Linkin Park made the "Reanimation" album which was basically a remix of "Hybrid Theory" or what "Collition Course" was to "Meteora". But to be fair, having completed Enemy Uknown previously I bought the Complete Edition just play Enemy Within with the "Long War" mod which makes the game extremely different from start to finish. So good on the Long War creators for promoting the game because I'm really enjoying the mod.

I love it when clowns like you come along. You've only played 5 hours, and by the looks of it only picked up the game a couple of days ago.

Of course now you are better off just buying the complete edition.

In answer to the OP's original question, I'd probably do the original Eneny Unknown campaign once before doing it with the expansion.

I agree with this guy, Enemy Within should have been the base game. IF you bought Enemy Unknown first before Within even came out and then bought it as DLC , you would never play Unknown again. At least I don't , I ignore it completely. The new content is a game changer it makes it the way it should have been it's like an afterthought DLC as if they put the game out too early. Just look at how quickly they created the 2nd one and you will see what I'm talking about.....That's not to say this is not an awesome game because it is.

I would love to see Firaxis get a hold of the rights to Shadowrun....they could make it incredible....it would be epic.

What's messed up is currently they are selling the first game , that you have to buy to get Enemy Unknown for 30 bucks and the latter for another 30 bucks........very clever....it's actually the early game and the way it should have been all along.....it's one of my favorite games I'm glad I got both of them on sale. I don't play it all the time , it's not that great it's cool but nothing you can't wait for unitl they do put it on sale. Right now it's wayyyyyyy over priced. I would not pay 30 bucks for it when they have the second one out already. As you can tell by the reviews , most people like the first one more than the second.....the second one is timed ...which I will not buy for that singular reason. Actually if you wanted Enemy Within too you'd pay the same for the two of them that you would for XCOM 2 ...... that game.... I would never pay 60 bucks for. Why they put a timer on the campaign I will never figure out. I'm going to buy it eventually when it's like 10 bucks however long that takes. Or maybe not at all......I haven't even finished the first one yet!

after just reading some of the negative reviews of XCOM2 I think I will give it a pass. One thing I did discover is there is apparently a mod for XCOM Enemy Unknown callled ' The Long War Mod" I've never heard of it......you may or may not need Enemy Within for it and more than likely it's available on the Nexus where you can mod Skyrim , Fallout series and a few other games.

Balance in EW is changed. Classic and Impossible difficulty in EW are noticeably harder than in EU. And Normal difficulty is slighty easier in EW.
Stardustfire Jul 9, 2016 @ 11:16am
@Miteusz than u do many things seriously wrong, EW makes classic and impossible far more easy (how u think to know impossible get harder with EW when u never finished an impossible game? ) . and i say that as someone who plays this game only in ironman mode.
