How to tell whether enemy has overwatch or no?

So sometimes I see the overwatch message on aliens and sometimes I obviously don't, I heard there is a visual indicator in Xcom 2, but what about in Xcom EW?

I just saw an enemy use overwatch and then he had a red arrow symbol next, does that mean that he has a debuff active (which in this case would be overwatch aim penalty)?

If they enter overwatch in the fog then sorry, there is no way to tell. One of the reasons why putting lightning reflexes on assaults is a no-brainer.

But yes green or red arrows means buffs or debuffs so if you can see the enemy with a soldier press F1 to view the info.

Damn, didn't know I could click on the enemy and F1. So you're saying that enemy going into overwatch means a debuff for them?

I think it'll say if the enemy has a debuff when pressing F1 or the button on the left of the screen when aiming at them.

One has to watch carefully during the enemy move to see if the Overwatch indicator appears over any of them.

The enemy won't be on Overwatch if you surprise an enemy pod and they move to cover during your turn.

Thanks. Playing ironman on my first run and the only bit of damage I usually take is from enemy in the fog of war that uses overwatch, so I guess I should assume that they will use overwatch, even if I didn't see them do it because of fog of war.
