Other than that, they're not particularly hard to kill. Just shoot them.
Keep distance, chryssalids like to charge you and do not take cover. Flashbangs will severely reduce their movement.
Movement is something like 7 tiles x 2.
A single shotgun blast will instakill early chryssalids. Combined with close combat specialist and close encounters will result in 2-3 free shots per turn.
Rockets ! Always a serious problem solver through large areas of the game. Rocket = dead xenos.
Sniper rifle aimed shot will deal a vast amount of damage to any alien you'll face.
At least shot them with rifles from point blank if you're confident to kill them on the same turn.
Rocket +Frag = dead pod. Shredder rocket +frag = dead pod (since the shred makes the frag do 4)
You should have rockets for the floaters and thin men in month 2.
In the early months I often will fall back to give myself more space to fight each pod of them.
Also remember they don't have a ranged weapon so often you can stand in the open if it will give you a better shot and more distance.
And another thing... you can also use squadsight snipers to pick the lids off from out of sight... all you need is someone to spot for your snipers. Just get a line of sight on the lids, shoot with your snipers, and then retreat with your second action with your scout. They won't be able to attack you that way.
I do Classic Ironman (no marathon) crystallids come with the first terror mission. By then I have one mec trooper and laser guns, and carapace armor. they go down, one to overwatch fire, one to the mec's kinetic strike, and one to the squad pumping red death from shotguns at it.
