The fact that in vanilla EW you can see how soon the canisters will degrade is a big help, since you will know ahead of time whether or not it's worth racing a trooper to dash to one. (In LW, you don't see that, and canisters will often go poof just as you get there).
An assault trooper, preferably with sprint ability, is best for meld collection in either game, since they can grab the meld from the cannister at the end of their yellow move if they can use the run & gun ablity that turn.
Best for Meld collection is a Fist MEC, faster than any soldier and durable enove to survive if running into trouble.
Any UFO and abduction mission has 2 canisters, terror, exalt and council have none.
For the Extra Meld:
Mectoids, Heavy Floaters and, dam what was the third mechanical unit? .... not seeker, not normal Floater, not Sectopod, guess it was disc than... 5 per unit brought down.
all this LW players spray so much "alternate facts" about vanilla game, this mod is a pain as long its users are not able to distinguish betwen the versions...
