Why "Trilogy" Fuga?
(Read with an open mind. I'm not enraged, I'm just... disappointed.)

I first heard a few months ago that fuga was going to be a trilogy, and despite there being no proof for such a claim, I was immediately disappointed. Why make a trilogy of this series? I personally found Solatorobo to be a way more interesting entry in the series. I loved the characters, setting, simplistic mechanics but insanely heavy story, etc etc. There was SO MUCH they could have done with all the 500 tons of lore they drop on you at the very end of the game, but instead they just tell it all to you and then the game just ends. Like, imagine what the world would be like for the characters after knowing everything they are told. It would lead to such a more interesting series than just... well, this.

I don't wanna sound rude or anything, but Fuga was already frustrating enough to deal with as it was really repetitive and there was too much time between each 1-minute cutscene. Not to mention, I guess I messed up my playthrough so I was told by the game to play through the ENTIRE thing again to get the best ending. Even in my first playthrough I was already getting tired of the monotonous slog.

Another gripe I had with the game (which is probably the biggest reason I'm upset about this turning into a trilogy...) is the serious nature of the game. The entire Tail Bronx series started out as a family-friendly adventure. Then Solatorobo came in with a bit more darker themes of the world having a mysterious past, but all the characters and visual style of the game allowed it to still feel silly and vibrant. ...Then came Fuga, where the series basically became like every single anime I've ever not watched. Bland color pallette (which I understand helps sell the feel of it taking place in a war-torn world, being sepia and all) but that mixed with the idea of children dying and fighting alone without their families, killing soldiers, etc etc... It was just too realistic and dark.

And they're doing it again, except this time somehow making it even darker and even more serious? I can't imagine what the third game is gonna be like... The game alone has a lot of reused assets and mechanics, and I'm not seeing anything notably new in the screenshots or the trailer so, as much as I love this series, I'm not at all excited for this entry. The thought of waiting for another game to release after this one before we get anything new from cyberconnect2 just annoys and saddens me. :sadklein:

Not saying it was bad, just... Solatorobo had my hopes very high for the next game the devs would make. (I heard they weren't going to make any, then after almost 10 years, got wind of them making another game. Turned out to be this one and... Yeah. Waited 10 years for this. Was fun, but...)

Wasn't that trilogy thing a few years ago, when they announced Fuga originally? If so that trilogy of games wasn't just for Fuga(Little Tail Bronx). There were another two game series (or new IPs don't recall exactly) as well, but if i recalled they got canned because of Covid/financial issues.

but on to what most of what this topic is mostly about. Though I don't 100% agree with OP. I to find it concerning as Fuga only came out last year, and this due to come out next year. So I'm not expecting much in terms of new gameplay mechanics. And well I would of like to go back to the mechas, or (and pardron the pun here) have some aerial dog fighting. Or at the very lest, more story of Baion . As I doubt Fuga 2 is going give anything about that.

See, that's what I mean. Baion was cool. I want more interesting characters instead of just literally every single character in the game screaming "YOU KILLED MY FAMILY MEMBER!"
Bandai Namco has the rights to TC and Sola. "Too realistic and gloomy" is it okay that the main message of LTB is that war is inherent in any intelligent life, and that it will always be? And it's Red in Sola killed two underage characters
"Family adventure" Hey, kids, there will always be a war, and most likely you will have to survive it in your life
And the gameplay in Fuga 2 promises to improve and diversify. The screenshots show new mechanics that can make the gameplay good

That was an accident.

Um... Then would you like to present your evidence to the class? Point out the screenshots where new mechanics are displayed and tell us what they are.

What's the difference? They're dead anyway.

But wasn't there money in the first game? The ring coins? And calling air support looks like just a single ability to use, nothing to really add any deep immense strategy...

The gameplay isn't for everyone, but it is fairly accessible strategy RPG fare. It has a simple goal, but I never found it to be oppressively repetitive. I had bigger gripes with the previous entries in the series. And sure, the game's color palette (chosen not just for atmosphere but as a stylistic choice based on the species' vision) is love or hate, I'll grant you that.

Story-wise... It sounds like you're judging it based on past entries, being light and campy much of the time. Those moments still exist somewhat in bond conversations, but not in the general storyline, of course. It's kind of a taste issue? It doesn't seem that the trilogy is going to have much in the way of fluff outside those silly introductions masking the pain of orphan situations. Wanting more of before sort of feels like you aren't judging Fuga on its own merits, its own storytelling. I'd like to see where this all goes.

There was no money in the first part. Air support will add more opportunities to think, especially since this is part of the new mechanics, they generally say that the overall gameplay has been improved

Air support just sounds like it'll be a weaker, free Soul Cannon, tbh... "Use in a pinch if you don't wanna kill a character". That's the vibe I'm getting.
I want the old games back too, and CyberConnect2 says they want to remake them, but Bandai Namco aren't gonna greenlight remakes unless LTB gets enough popularity through the Fuga games
https://nintendoeverything.com/cyberconnect2-again-talks-possibility-of-remaking-solatorobo-as-well-as-tail-concerto/
Maybe I'm naïve to believe it's possible, but I do trust CC2 wants it just as badly as the fans do. I'm gonna do my best to support Fuga 2

BRUH imagine a solatorobo full remake (not just upgraded graphics, but like, truly, a remaster, like the recent final fantasy one). :asciiterror:
