Anyone Have a Fix for the Cell Phone Bug?
When you're answering phone calls, half the time audio doesn't play, usually after you've been playing for a while. If you quick save then quit to desktop, load up the game and the save again, the audio will play fine. But after a while, again the glitch will occur.

I saw someone suggest setting the sound to Surrond Sound in the Windows sound properties, didn't solve the problem for me.
Anyone else have a solution?

No idea, dont have this problem but you can ignore the damn thing, I never answer calls, it makes no difference to the gameplay.

This game has still a lot of bugs. Another one is the Jackal tapes which all play the same audio after a certain number. And one of my saves got corrupted, in that I could not manually save the game anymore. Luckily I save often and only lost maybe 15 minutes of gameplay.

But the game itself is pretty good :)

I agree, I just finished the story on normal.
Game has a steep learning curve, but once you get over it, it's throughrly enjoyable.

I always quick save right before getting a phone call (you always know when they will call you).. then I quick load as many time as I need till the phone call plays correctly.

I think I've discovered the fix (on GOG version). Don't use the DX10 renderer. Use the DX9 one, instead. The DX10 renderer has broken vsync, and I just tested the game over and over for an hour, and if I use the DX10 renderer, the phone calls don't work. But if I switch to the DX9 renderer, the phone calls work. There are some minor graphical downgrades with the DX9 renderer, but you get fixed physics without workarounds and the phone bug should be fixed.

Do you happen to install game on external HDD connected via USB or anything which is not usual SATA cable?

If so - half of ubi and other games in general have bug with access right on removable media and cant properly read some files, some game just crash, som have texture and sound missing bugs.

There are 2 proper ways to fix it - move game to internal hdds or hdds connected to SATA dock station, or download application compatibility toolkit and make a fix database for all game exes and use CDFS compatibility shim. There is also a way by setting win 95\98\me compat mode, but this will limit any game to one core and screw up perfromance.
There is cathc however - you cant set this compat shim or 98\me mode for 64 bit exes and some of them also suffer from this problem, so moving to internal hdd is the only way for some games.

Game is on an internal SATA 7200 RPM HDD.
The cell phone bug is a well known issue on PC and doesn't seem to be a fix for it.

Have you switched to the DX9 renderer? The DX10 renderer has several serious bugs.

Ok than, there is another possible reason - do you happen to have vsync disabled in system and not enabled in game and have more than 60 fps?

Force system wide 60 hz refresh rate and adaptive vsync, it may solve problems in many games. And preferable dont use in game vsync, many games has its own vsync implementation flawed, so needs to be set to 59 hz some to 61 or 62 fps to work properly, son have microstutter when vsync enabled in game, system wide adaptive vsync usually dont have any problems and limits fps to refresh rate.

I play in DX10 because I want to enjoy the beautiful graphics. If that means putting up with a few minor bugs, so be it.
And I don't like playing FPS games on PC with vsync as it introduces input lag and can screw with the fidelity of the mouse.
Besides, I already completed this game like three weeks ago, so I'm good lol

dx9 and 10 does not have any major gfx difference, only performance, but its not revelant on modern hardware.
