I want to believe this, but I just opened up the Steam version for the first time, and it offers a new selection screen for the different playable characters, with different skins. In the Itch version I'm playing after my purchase, only Purse is playable, and it's just the one skin.
EDIT: After this, I opened up the Itch.io version, and now there are multiple character options! I wonder if I unlocked it by beating that badger king in the lava place? In which case, Steam's version seems to have drawn from the same memory.
Even so, the below-mentioned disparity of promised updates continues, and the Steam version advertises the Purse plush while the itch.io download does not. Minor on their own, but possibly one and the same with some more important differences.
Please fill me in on if I missed something, or maybe I downloaded the wrong Windows file from itch.io. That DRM free option is exactly why I'd like to be able to get and play the latest version via itch.io.
