Alice: Madness Returns

Alice: Madness Returns

Random freezes. Help!
My PC meets the system requirements, but the game sometimes freezes in place for a second and it's completely random. Sometimes the freezing can lead to a game crash. Do you know any fix of this?

I already set PhysX to low and already verified game file integrity.

Increase the texture poolsize until the freezing dissapears, also change bUseBackgroundLevelStreaming=True to bUseBackgroundLevelStreaming=False as this helped me a great deal in texture load issues. this all can be found in the AliceEngine.ini file. My texture poolsize is set to 1300. Be sure to make a backup just in case good luck.

It worked... so far. Playing for a while and I haven't encountered any freezing. Thanks for the help!

I was watching someone play and they had a couple of freezes too. I'll let them know about the texture issue and see if that helps. Thanks!

I know this reaction is very late, but for the googling guys like me.

What helped me get rid of the freezes when hitting stuff and being in fights was this guide:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1963500

For some reason (even with my rig) these parts were very usefull for me

AliceGame.ini
"MaxPhysicsSubsteps=10"
(I put this to 5 without noticing any degredation of graphics)
"MaxActiveDecals=100"
(Same here, put this on 50 and had no hiccups after these tweaks)

But I just did almost the whole guide without having any graphics degredations to be honest.

And that with the newest i5 and a GTX 970, so it's not the rig, just unupdated game.ini

Open:
C:\Users\%username%\Documents\My Games\Alice Madness Returns\AliceGame\Config\AliceEngine.ini

Find and set:
PoolSize=140

It helps for me.
