American McGee's Alice - manual saving

I'm playing the 2011 remaster[pcgamingwiki.com] (no longer available). I saved manually in a level (the familiar save icon appeared), but after dying there's only an autosave created at the beginning of the current stage.

I see. However, that's not the specific version I'm running and I haven't seen the "hard drive full" error.

I can't save my games in American McGee's Alice? I got the game to work just fine, everything is great, but when I try and save, it says my hard disk is full, yet, there is plenty of space.

I'll do some more research.

I can now absolutely confirm that I don't get the "hard disk is full" error and I can save and load manually as normal. Only the hotkeys are affected and even though I see the game's save icon, no save file is created. Additionally the quick load key seems to load the first save on the level.

I'm sorry to bother you after so many years, but did you find a solution? I have exactly the same problem.
Edit: I seem to figure it out. I set the exe to run in window 7 compatibility mode. Now the quick saves still don't appear in load-save menu, but quick load will load the last quick save. However if I do a manual save after a quick save, quick load will still load the quick save rather than the latest manual save.
